Moderators AHF Posted May 14, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted May 14, 2015 http://espn.go.com/nba/ (lead and main picture) Hawks' calming force delivers a winner http://espn.go.com/blog/NBA/post/_/id/3112/hawks-calming-force-horford-comes-up-big Horford shines for Hawks in thrilling Game 5 http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/105601/horford-shines-for-hawks-in-thrilling-game-5 YOU CAN CALL ME AL : Al Horford has been the Hawks' best player for far longer than most people know, going all the way back to his rookie season. He's a smart, versatile player that makes the right play, can score inside and out, and generally plays basketball in the most modern sense a big man can. But he's so often overlooked when people say they don't have a star (as is Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague -- though Teague has been a walking disaster in this series). In Game 5, Horford showed up, had a monster game with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks, and did this: http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25184706/five-star-review-horford-one-ups-the-truth-warriors-bury-grizzlies http://www.si.com/nba (lead and top picture) Al Horford game-winning layup spoils John Wall's awaited return to Wizards http://www.si.com/nba/2015/05/14/al-horford-layup-atlanta-hawks-washington-wizards-john-wall-game-5-2015-playoffs
HighFlyer
Al should without a doubt should be considered among one of the best players in the NBA. But he's vastly underrated and unappreciated because a mix of injuries, bad coaching, other players taking shine from him, and us just being the hawks. He was already a winner coming into the nba
Moderators macdaddy Posted May 14, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted May 14, 2015 Frankly this team was desperate for someone to make a big time play. Not at all surprised who it was.
benhillboy
Al is our Timmy Lite. Stupid media didn't speak one word about him possibly tying Michael Jordan on the ridiculous "ring count" list. If it had been Kobe with a chance the Hawks and GS wouldn't have gotten any publicity this year. None. No measurables or athleticism that jumps off the screen. Just mind and heart working harder than their opponent. I get frustrated at his lack of fluidity and strength a lot, but I'll live with it due to the fact the man is a flat out winner. He'll likely never know an NBA season without advancing to the postseason. Jeff would be smart to latch on like LeBron's Flunkies so he can say the same. Moderators AHF Posted May 15, 2015 Author Moderators Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 On everything he is. Horford will lead us to the NBA Finals. Dear god. Just please stop. Let us enjoy Al's play and this team without you resurrecting this long dead debate and ending up comparing it to Karl's age 28 post-season of 29.1 ppg on .618 TS% and 11.3 rpg. If Al leads us to the NBA finals let's just all sing his praises instead of getting tied up in comparing him to Karl Malone.
