Gray Mule
Old man, Falcon's receiver Roddy White, the forgotten man, once more became "the man" for Atlanta as they defeated the unbeaten Carolina Panthers. Sure, the running game was great and Jones was the star, but, quietly, don't overlook the part that was played by the old, forgotten wide receiver. Despite their terrible season and so many losses, a faint glimmer of hope remains for the playoffs. Most of us don't really care about that now but, golly, wasn't it great to get one from a bitter rival!! No one in this division really likes any other team there.
Dnice
Good look by the falcons d, their stars didn't go off, and glad it was the falcons that ended the big win streak.
Guest
The silver lining in a miserable season: beating a rival, stopping Carolina's win streak, stopping Cam's passing TD streak, holding the top offense to 13 points and Vic's strip to end the game. Feels good.
WraithSentinel
A disappointing year overall. It is something to build toward next season. I found this. Edited December 27, 2015 by WraithSentinel
Gray Mule
What was the greatest inspiration for Sunday,s win? Personally, for me, it was Cam Newton doing his victory lap in Charlotte before that game was over. That was insulting, to the nth degree, to all Falcon players, coaches and fans.
Moderators macdaddy Posted December 28, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted December 28, 2015 Not to rain on our parade because the Falcons D showed up and played their asses off. But I hope these meaningless wins don't distract from the fact that Shanahan has to go. We've scored exactly ONE TD in the second half of our last two games and that one was a 70 yard desperation heave that only Julio could turn into a TD. In other words, our 'offense' has been unable to score a second half TD at all. If we finish 9-7 that is going to look pretty good when in actuality our offense has been beyond terrible when it mattered. Sorry. I just had to get that out there. I'm actually very happy we found some punch and put the flavor of the moment in their place. Cam is good but they have an attitude that isn't deserved. Quote ATLANTA -- Falcons outside linebacker O'Brien Schofield didn't bite his tongue in lashing out at the Panthers after Atlanta's 20-13 victory Sunday ended Carolina's bid for an undefeated season. Schofield said Panthers quarterback Cam Newton exited the field without saying anything to anyone except for Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. "If you handle yourself with class, you don't have to worry about that," Schofield said. "But you see, they didn't handle themselves with class the first time we played [when Carolina won 38-0]. So I didn't care about how they were feeling after this game. I was 'dabbing' all in their faces. "They took a picture during the game and posted it on social media the first time we played. It was a whole team picture. And Cam was running up and down the sidelines. There wasn't none of that today. We played a football game today. I'm not even a trash talker, but when someone disrespects you and you get payback and then they can't handle it, that's glorious. If they could handle it, it would be cool. I probably wouldn't have even 'dabbed.' But I was 'dabbing' in front of everybody." Everyone from Falcons team owner Arthur Blank to star wide receiver Julio Jones was doing the "dab" dance to mock Newton. Schofield did it in front of Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson. "Charles Johnson came up to me and said, 'Who are you?' and I said to him: 'I'm a Super Bowl champ and a two-time NFC Champ. Who are you?'" said Schofield, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks. "They're trying to tell me, 'You're going to be at home while we're in the playoffs.' I don't care." Panthers cornerback Josh Norman, a notorious trash talker, reacted to Schofield's comments. "Ain't no disrespect. They made one play that put them over in this game, and that was kind of a throw up," Norman said, referring to Julio Jones' 70-yard touchdown catch. "We played our game; they played theirs. And they just had one more play than we did. That's what it came down to. They had energy, and there was a little bit of luck. Those things happen. "The first time, they were on our field. We came to their field. Hats off to those guys. They get paid, too. I have no comments about them. Julio is an amazing talent. I love playing against him -- two of the best."
Dejay
Well, I had this team at 8-8 with hopes of 11-5 and with a win against the hated Aints, they'll fall a little bit in between. That catch by Julio was absolutely ridiculous; reminded me of when Kyle hit the 'nos' button on the Bucks last year. I haven't heard that place as loud since the Alford pick in overtime against the Skins or the Eagles game.
