Once again, it's not about cap room this time. It was last year with Carroll and Millsap, not this time. In fact I think Marc Stein worded his tweet wrong, I think they're shopping the picks to try to "impress Al Horford" (which I don't like at all).

Hawks management must feel otherwise. The hawks will be lucky to win 40 games this year.

Until Hawks management actually brings in some difference makers then they will continue to be a front office of mediocrity.I am really tired of the shell games this front office plays. If getting swept by the Cavs rge last 2 seasons in embarrassing fashion doesn't deserve change then nothing will.

Hawks always have to clear cap space while the Cavs and Warriors always find ways to keep or add new quality players what's wrong with this picture.Hawks front office doesn't measure up.

Sigh, this bullshit  again.  what big name free agent  has Cleveland signed besides LBJ -Rhichard Jefferson?.  all the big money contracts they gave to Love, Irving, Thompson, Shumpert, etc - they WERE CLEVELAND'S OWN PLAYERS which thye exceed the cap to resign, they DID NOT NEED to clear any capspace.

Ain't about the front office right NOW my man. You need to see the posts that @JayBirdHawk made about how teams can manipulate their cap into an endless one if they sign their player to more than a two year deal.

Tony even said he'll exceed cap if needed, he's just not going past luxury tax.

As someone else mentioned in this thread already, how do we give away an All-Star caliber PG for the TWELFTH PICK!!!!

Last season we had the FIFTEENTH PICK.... and got a scrub backup SG. According to this trade, if only we had the 12th pick last year we could have gotten ourselves a starting-caliber player. I just don't get it.

This trade is a joke, especially if all they do is resign Horford and Baze.

They HAVE TO add some new talent to this team or else this trade will go down as a complete fleecing.

As a lot of people are saying, the trade isn't just for the 12th pick. We also create flexibility to add players via trade or free agency. If we ended up trading Teague for the 12th pick and don't use the cap space we gained on anything useful then it's a bad trade. This is just one of these deals we are going to have to wait and see what happens during the off-season before we can judge if it is good or bad.

Free agents have not been breaking down our doors to come here.

Who cares about cap space when over half the league has millions and millions to spend this offseason. Out of all of the seasons to try to clear cap space... this is the one season where it really doesn't mean SH!T!!

And like Watchman said, it's not like big time free agents ever come to Atlanta. We'll end up maxing Barnes or some other stupid crap.

True the Cadavaliers are playing within the system. They sign good players below market because of Bron. The Warriors and Okc just outdraft most teams. The Hawks need to be among the leaders in the draft not just throw away picks.
