Why didn't we push for Batum?

While Cho had our Young GM bent over a chair.... why didn't Schlenk ask about Batum.   Charlotte just picked up Malik Monk.   This trade would have been more palatable if instead of Belli, we pushed hard, maybe added in our first rounder and asked for Batum,

 

To me... Batum is that SG that we need playing beside Dennis.  Batum can create for himself and he's also a good passer that can get others involved.  He has great size and the joker can hit a three pointer every now an then.   ON top of everything else, he's a good defender.

From what I read the Hornets plan to use Batum as a point forward while having their "guards" act as off ball shooting guards with Batum initiating plays.

I prefer Collins / Belli to Batum anyway.

CHA has always been unnaturally high on Batum.  He apparently has a really close relationship with their overrated coach.  No way he'll be traded.

I don't want him anyways.  Can't stay healthy anyway.

Charlotte is looking to try to compete while we are starting over ... Batum runs their offense and so they want to match him with Howard, Walker et al ... it wouldn't make sense for them to include him in that trade.

!. Dwight  was traded BEFORE the draft so Charlotte had no idea who they would get

2. Why would Charlotte do that? The same reason you want Batum next to Dennis is the same reason that Charlotte needs him.

The biggest reason is that no one in the league would have given up value for Dwight Howard.
