Premium Member Popular Post Diesel Posted June 2, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted June 2, 2021 Hawks fans, we have come to the pivotal moment of our existence. We exist as Hawks fans because we want to see our team win. This season, our team has faced all odds. Along the way, we have had some losses and we have had some times when it didn't look like we would be here. The National Media is not with us. The League is not with us. And we know that the refs are not with us. So with everybody standing against us, our team has to do one thing... WIN. We have to win for the moment. We have to win because everybody counted us out (except Perk). We have to win for the city. We have to win for every team that has Atlanta printed across it's chest but never tasted sweet victory. That means that today is the day we avenge our city. We avenge our city from the loss to the Patriots. We avenge our city for the loss to the Broncos. We avenge our city for the Braves who won 14 straight pennants and only one WS championship. We avenge our previous Hawks team who won 60 games and was swept by the Cavs . We avenge every Hawks team led by Dominique only to meet the Celtics, the Bulls or the Pistons in the playoffs. We win this for all those other reasons but most of all, we win it for us. We win for us who have been ridiculed. We win for us who have had to answer the question "why are you a Hawks fan?" over and over again. We win it for us who believe that there's a secret power in corndogs. We win it for us who's spouses have put up with us on Hawksquawk for hours after each Hawk playoff win. We win it for us who have children who likes teams other than the Hawks. We win it for us who spend as much time on Hawksquawk as we do at work. We win it for us who have had to sit through all of Pete Babcock's Bad draft picks. We win for us who have to handle people's pity. Coming in ... they said that NY would beat us. Tonight, let's give an overwhelming Celo -like FU to the Media, the League, and the Naysayers. Just like when BK refused to shake Belkin's hand....Hawks faithful....This is our HOUR.... BELIEVE!!! 8
NekiEcko
That is awesome, Diesel To coin the moniker "Never trust the Hawks" or "how Georgia professional teams is going to mess up this time" has been a mainstay in the national eye. For many years, we have good teams that played here and did everything right but still end up short. This is a good test for our young guys to understand that you have to close a team out when you have the opportunity or it is going to bite you back hard. Tonight, we are going to see a Knicks team is going to do everything in the power to win and the refs is not on our side and the media isn't either. Tonight, we got to finish the drill and end this series or its going to be another nightmare.

Thomas
As the focus has been on horrible reffing in this series it has also had something to do with a couple of big time losses as well. SB had the refs call a old on Matthews on the game sealing drive in scoring position. A call even the announcers were surprised by with how little was seen. You could make that call on every play but certainly not in the prime of prime times. And of course the strike zone mystery when the Marlins were handed the pennant over us. So think even more satisfaction with how blatant it has been beating both the Knicks and refs in this series even if it is early in the playoffs.

We need to understand and play like this is our elimination game. Every game we play, we ought to play like if we lose, we will be watching Kenny Smith laughing at us saying we've gone fishing. For us, this is our Buster Douglas moment. The moment when everybody had counted us out... we've been knocked down... and we hit the floor and got up. This is the moment that we exercise all the demons of Atlanta Sports. When the whole world is watching, this is the time for us to strike the hardest, turn back the Knicks, the refs, and the media and let them know that ..... Atlanta Got something to say in these playoffs!! 3

We must send them to their vacations today!!
Premium Member Popular Post Diesel Posted June 2, 2021 Author Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted June 2, 2021 BTW... I want all the Priests and Holy people to send up a prayer that Binds up the Spirit of Josh Smith upon Trae. We like the in control Trae that shoots between 6-8 three pointers (unless he's hot). Last game he shot 14 three pointers. That's the Spirit of Josh Smith. We want to exercise that Demon from this game. We also want to put a short leash on Toppin, Quickley, and Burkes. Role players try to play Big at Home. Let's not give them an inch! 2 1

Game six will be a MUST however I still remember the Game 6 in 1988 and it was the same feeling I had after Game 6 of last year's NLCS, Game 6 of '91 World Series, and SBLI. Even though there was still a Game 7, I already knew that the season was over and was proved right each time with only one exception (1995). Let's not take any chances tonight... On the same drive (I believe after the hold), Sanu caught it and they grabbed his face mask (should have been an automatic first down).

That series was ours to take but the getting even with Philly sealing the deal with stealing the Dr. from us was not meant to be. History is often not so much fun. Would have been a great series of seven games do believe.
