NBA Around the League News  

Headlines: LeBron James on the trade block, Kyrie to Portland is becoming more than just a want for Portland, KD is mad at Brooklyn for being on the out with Kyrie, Gobert sweepstakes is expected to be massive if Atlanta is out of the picture.

Eastern Conference Only for this time around. WC will come later on. 

Let’s start with the Atlantic division

Knicks: Knicks are heavily shopping Kemba Walker, Evan Fournier, and Julius Randle. So far no suitors have popped up yet for Fournier although the Knicks have engaged with Utah on talks for Conley which haven’t gone far. Randle has very limited interest due to his contract. They have offered him to the Hawks for Gallinari and the Suns have made an offer for him (Shamet, Crowder, and Payne plus draft considerations.)  

Sixers: Tobias Harris. Has been heavily shopped. PHX is targeting PF but his name was not mention as an option. Atlanta has some interest in Thybulle but Philly wasn’t interested in Atlanta’s offer. Philly is interested in moving Thybulle for a young offensive minded wing. They really want to add more shooting.

Toronto has made it clear they would like to upgrade members in their core or add to their core. A player Toronto is targeting is Rudy Gobert but they want him similar to how they wanted Capela. With Gary Trent Jr. and a couple prospects. The difference is they have shopped the idea of Thad Young SnT for 1 year to them at a similar salary as he just had plus draft considerations. That said, don’t expect any big moves, FVV, Siakam, Barnes, and O.G. are said to be unavailable for the most part. The Raptors has interest in Capela but nothing to note over.

Celtics: Don’t really have anything other than they could be shopping Al this offseason and they have always loved Rudy Gobert.

Nets have been extremely active. They are really trying to fix their team from the mid-section aka the role players. They want to do a SnT for Kyrie and get a TPE if Kyrie doesn’t agree to their terms. They have offered Joe Harris to a lot of teams. They really want to fix their vets and rotation and be more like the Warriors. Their vision is two-way players around KD and Simmons who can shoot. I am told they would love to get a true 5 to play next to KD and like Myles Turner but don’t have the draft capital to do it. They will be crafty like Atlanta when we had Ferry is what he’s told. KD isn’t talking to Brooklyn management currently. I am told, they aren’t moving him so it’s moot. He will understand when everything comes together which is why they are going so hard.

 

Central:

Cavs: Cavs are planning on resigning Collin Sexton and they are open to moving Kevin Love. Phx is interested in Love.

Indy: Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner are on the trading block. Teams have lukewarm interest in Brogdon. No one has made an offer yet. Turner has received offers from CHA and DAL is said to be extremely interested. IND understands they are in a rebuild situation.

Bulls: Other than the Zach LaVine talk, nothing. That max contract is something the Bulls just don’t want to do but it’s not off the table yet from the Bulls. This is not like Ayton where the Suns are like, no.

Bucks: Nothing. Portis might not be back. He’s a player that’s on a lot of radars.

Pistons: They are interested in Ayton. Grant is available, Portland wants him bad. Grant price tag is too high is what I was told and Atlanta isn’t high on his contract demands. Grant price tag is what’s killing his trade value. Portland wants him bad. He’s their top trade target but not for their lottery pick but for a protected 1^st and picks like that. Pistons are still rebuilding but if they can get a steal of an asset, they are interested and Ayton agent hasn’t shunned them either.

 

Southeast:

Magic: Mo Bamba is said to be available. Teams have been calling about JI but he’s not available at this time. Orlando seems likely to stick with what they have but they are open to trades, teams say they value their players at a higher cost than they are willing to pay.  

Wizards: Atlanta has serious interest in Beal but Beal is signing the supermax so adios to that. Washington like Orlando has pieces that interest teams around the league but teams balk at the price.

Heat: Nothing for now.

Hornets: They want to add to their core without taking away. They were willing to move Bridges for Ayton but PHX wants a same tier as Ayton center with a good contract in return limiting trades to Capela and Turner. Maybe they try a 3-team deal with Indy but that’s easier said than done and Turner would take their asset that they would need to do an Ayton trade since Atlanta owns Charlotte future pick rights. They are a team that many expect to land Gobert but his Charlotte connect told him Charlotte doesn’t want to take on that contract without guys Utah doesn’t want in the deal.

So Supes at this point would you say more than likely Atlanta keeps the 16th pick than trade it at the draft?  If so are there any guys you are hearing the Hawks like?,  whether in the 1st or 2nd round?
