Thought this may interest some of you.....

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Bucks signed guard Royal Ivey to a one-year contract on Tuesday, the day after backup point guard Charlie Bell signed an offer sheet with the Miami Heat.

"Royal has shown that he can play both the point and off-guard positions," general manager Larry Harris said in a statement. "He has good size and athleticism, and brings a defensive mentality to our roster."

The Bucks have a week to match Bell's five-year, $18.5 million offer, and have not ruled out re-signing Bell even though he said Monday he did not want to return to Milwaukee.

"The Bucks said they didn't have this kind of money and didn't want to give me a long-term deal, so I would hope they stick to what they said and let me go," Bell said.

The 6-foot-4 Ivey was drafted in the second round by Atlanta in 2004 and appeared in 53 games last season, averaging 3 points and a rebound in 10 minutes a game.

Hopefully he doesn't turn around and go Boris Diaw on us.

I wouldn't be shocked if he did.

Did anyone else think Ivey's outside shot really improved over the last year? I know he didn't shoot alot but I remember him hitting some tough shots in his 3 minutes per game this past season.

Me either.

Ivey was a very steady PG. He rarely turned it over and he played decent defense. I think the whole 10 minutes was a joke. Milwaukee is going to give him more PT and he's going to turn out to be a Chauncey Billups minus the scoring story!

Well, I think I saw a lot of growth from him. I remember him at Texas.. He was an OG. When he came here, he bcame a PG and he lowered his TOs.. For one stretch, it was several games that he had gone without committing a turnover. I think it will take some work to go from being a PG who doesn't turn the ball over to a PG who makes things happen, but just like Billups, that change can come when he gets into a system with an offensive gameplan.

I don't think Ivey will ever be a great scorer... However, I think he will have more of an impact than Newble. Newble left Atlanta and was a BUST. I think you can expect some Brian Shaw like play out of him. Not the best PG on your team, but a guy who is steady and can do what needs to be done while playing a good grade of defense.

He is not that athletic and I don't see him doing that much more. His game is more grit and hard work. I wish him well.

Actually Ivey is much more athletic than given credit for. I know he can jump like hell, I've seen him do it a bunch of times, just not on dunks. I've actually always thought that to myself, he really is athletic, he just doesn't have a skillset or the fire to really use it.
