txsting
The idea here is that Flip is almost as good as Crawford for our team's "sparkplug" need. Maybe even better. And he's available super cheap, still. Wouldn't it be a wise move to "flip" Crawford for that big we've been looking for? And sign the real Flip, who we already know is a great fit? There are probably quite a few backup PF/C in the league who have lousy contracts in the range of Crawford. Maybe Nick Collison, Pryzbilla, Gadzuric, Milicic? Wouldn't we be a better team if we could get one of those guys, plus Flip?

Admin
Nope because even in Flip's career year with us last year he's still a poor mans Crawford plus he's extremely undersized for the backup 2 guard spot which Crawford will be able to play and give JJ more rest. IMO we're significantly better with Crawford/[Joe Smith] than we are with Flip/[any of those guys you mentioned]

MaceCase
People need to start thinking along the lines of what if JJ bolts next year who would you prefer as our starting option at SG Crawful or Flip.......
Moderators macdaddy Posted August 13, 2009 Moderators Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 I'd rather sign Flip even if he doesn't see the same minutes as last year and not pay Rio and Thomas Gardner to warm the bench. You never know when someone will get hurt.

That said, I'd rather have Crawford for the same money until he proves that he doesn't fit. If Dalembert is not the answer in Philly, why would he be the answer here? DrReality
Keep Crawford.
dms269
I doubt Portland would trade Przy for Crawford, and both Gadz and Darko are horrible. Much better to keep Crawford as our safety net.
Gray Mule
How many empty slots remain on the roster with the upcoming addition of Joe Smith? I believe we're allowed 15 players under contract, 12 active. Hawks had a team in the D League that they had ties to, but they didn't send anyone down there, did they? One or two NBA teams will have their own D League team this season. Too bad the Hawks can't afford to do this.
