Can't wait for Summer League (don't think I've ever said that before).

Hawks Summer League Schedule:

Friday July 12
3 PM – Atlanta vs. LA Clippers (Game 2)

Sunday July 14
7 PM – Atlanta vs. Miami (Game 18)

Monday July 15
7 PM – San Antonio vs. Atlanta (Game 25)

July 17-22 - Playoffs - http://www.nba.com/hawks/news/nba-summer-league-2013-schedule-announced

John Jenkins, Mike Scott and Shelvin Mack are supposed to be on the Hawks’ roster, but outside of those three, we don’t know anyone else yet. The roster should come into focus after next Thursday’s draft, where Atlanta currently has four picks scheduled for the two rounds. If no trades are made and all four draft picks are chosen to play in Las Vegas in three weeks, it would bring the roster total to seven. Others from the D-League may join as well depending on what the roster looks like after the draft.

Summer League is usually designed so teams can see and develop their young talent, and the Hawks will certainly have a lot to evaluate this summer. With a huge roster overhaul, the players on Atlanta’s team during the 12-day period in July will have not only a lot to play for and certainly a huge opportunity to impress the coaching staff.

For Jenkins, I’ll be particularly interested in his defensive improvement and his explosiveness off the dribble. We know he can shoot, and we know he can pass – he did both very well during a successful rookie campaign in Atlanta. There’s still much to develop though, and he can use this Summer League to help hone the skills that could make him a star in the league one day.

For Scott, I’ll be looking for him to make post moves early in possessions, and for him to finish around the basket. He has a nice 12-15 foot jump shot, But I’d love to see him get more aggressive down low. Quick decision-making upon receiving the entry passes could help that. He’ll also likely be guarding bigger players this summer, so we’ll see how he handles himself

.

And finally, for Mack, I’ll be looking at his court vision and decision-making. We saw him grow into creating his own shot after being called up to the Hawks from the D-League, so now it’s a matter of improving his court vision and distribution skills.http://hawksbasketblog.com/2013/06/19/hawks-summer-league-schedule-announced/

Any relation to Eric Weems?

I went looking that up immediately, but I got the former Falcon mixed up with Sonny. Kyle doesn't look to be related to Eric, but based only on geography (Kyle being from Topeka KS), Sonny (West Memphis AR) might be distant cousins or something.

6'6", 232# SF. He was kind of a big deal in High School but fell off the radar with underwhleming seasons at Memphis. Has to improve his shot before he can take advantage of his potential physical advantages at SG. Decent perimeter defender.

How is that evil? I guess since Calvin basically is Josh, but at least he is a young Josh so we could still talk about "potential" even though he won't likely stop making boneheaded plays. Doesn't matter though, I saw Calvin signed with the Knicks. It is unclear what type of deal it was, it may just be a training camp invite.

Whatever he does, I hope he starts blogging soon.

lw3, you got some competition.

The professor was like, "Mr. Leslie, I simply asked you to do Haiku!"

He's perfect for the Knicks.

^fan page for the well-coiffed Murray State Racer. 6'7" 225# combo forward loves to dunk and swat shots. As would I, were I 6'7". Covers both ends of the floor quickly.

Ugh I loathe Murray State, as an alum of Tenn St we were the team to disrupt their undefeated season before they ultimately beat us in the OVC finals to earn the free ticket to the tourney. Canaan and Daniels had plenty of hype it was annoying. BOLO for Robert Covington from TSU tho. Kids going to be a better player than Daniels for sure. Not as much flash but a solid game overall

Eric Dawson was the 2011-12 D-League Impact Player of the Year with the Spurs-affiliated Austin Toros, averaging a double-double that season. This past season he was in the Phillipines, with the PBA's Meralco Bolts. In April he dropped 50 points on something called "Rain or Shine". Here's an ex-Hawk draft pick he beat for a rebound in another PBA game.

He's also had cups o' tea in Slovenia, Japan, South Korea and the Dominican Republic.

Back at Midwestern State (NCAA Div. II), he led all collegiate basketball levels with 23 double-doubles in the 2006-07 season.

Dawson was a call-up in the latter half of the 2011-12 season with the Spurs. Despite airballing his first shot he finished 4-for-8 in 31 garbage minutes of a blowout loss to Portland. A month later he managed to go 3-for-3 with one block in the space of 82 seconds against Dallas.

Bobi Marjanovic (7-foot-3, 287 lbs.) was the MVP of the Serbian League in 2012-13. He just signed for two seasons with once-mighty BC Red Star Belgrade.

It's Queen's English if you play the audio backwards. ;-)

John Millsap is 2 years older than his brother Paul, and is a former All-Star from the CBA when it was still kicking back in 2006-07. He starred for the Roadrunners of UT-San Antonio in college. He played one season in the D-League, with our former Utah Flash in 2007-08, and had a couple summer league stints with the Jazz.

If you're looking for him at the CBA All-Star game, he's the one in the grainy jersey. ;)

Big Bro John has spent a lot of time south of the border, playing in Mexico, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. He spent last season with Los Guaros (extinct species of parrots, basically) in the state of Lara, Venezuela.
