gurpilo
Just a view of how bad this contract is, JR. Smith signed for the same amount and is 5 years younger. His stats last season were 18,1ppg, 5,3 rpg, 3 apg, 1,2 spg .422%, now compare them to Korver's, then just cry...

We should cry that our 3 PT SPECIALIST had a HIGHER 3 PT % (.457) than JR Smith had FG % (.422)? Some of you guys aren't understanding how important that 3 PT specialist role is in this offense.

Dolfan, are you really seriously saying Korver's value is the same as JR Smith's value, best 6th man of the year and 5 years younger?

In the Spurs offense that we are going to run, Kyle Korver has MORE value than JR Smith. In the Knicks offense and many others in the league, JR Smith has more value. I only care about the Hawks offense though.

Moderators PSSSHHHRRR87 Posted July 5, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted July 5, 2013 We have JR Smith already..His name is Lou Williams. And guess what Lou's contract is worth? lol. Some people just don't get it. You don't have floor spacing without 3pt shooters and if you want to be the best, you have to have the best. KK is the top 3pt specialist in the league.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Buzzard
No we don't. JR is a way more explosive offensive player than Lou Williams. Not really. Woody just did with JR what he did with JJ and gave him free reign when he was on the court. Lou shoots similar FG% and 3PT% but kicks JR's butt in FT attempts and %. In a nutshell Lou gets more points per shots taken. Let Lou take 1249 shots and play 2678 minutes in a season and he would blow JR away in PPG. . Even in Philly where they had no true number one option Lou still failed to top 15PPG. But JR Smith actually got to the FT line 3.9 times last year while Lou got there 3.1 times before he was hurt. JR seems like a guy that is capable of going off for 50 on any given night. Lou mostly sticks in the 10-18 range.
Plainview1981
Btw, Lou was taking 5 3's a game before he got hurt. He wasn't being restrained all that much.

He wasn't being restrained all that much. From 08/09 until last season, their careers are almost mirror images with the big exception being this year when JR got those ungodly minutes under Woody. I just don't see JR being more explosive, but I do see him getting more volume every season in that same time frame. Lou has taken over 800 shots only one season. JR has surpassed that number three times in the last five seasons he has played. And you should probably throw out 11/12 since he only played 35 games. drzachary
http://wagesofwins.com/2013/07/03/the-nba-offseason-list-part-1/ Pretty cool chart, there. Author's conclusion for Kyle, given the market value of a win, and KK's WS/48, projected over his expected decline for the next four years: 9.1M / 7.6M / 6.1M / 4.2M. So, by this author's analysis at least, especially in the short term, the contract is a steal Not super sure how he arrived at the decline/improvement for players though. Alex
What's lost in all of this is how handsome Kyle Korver is. You gotta pay to have good looks on your team.

Korver sucks, the Hawks suck, we overpaid for him. He's the worst contract in league history and I really feel like going and eating worms now. This contract is literally the worst thing that has ever happened the world and yes Charles Barkley it's worse than AAU.
