Thabo & Pero Arrested; Thabo OUT FOR SEASON due to injuries

Wow. If this is indeed true, that would mean the police arrested Thabo and Pero for no reason, broke Thabo's leg, and then fabricated the entire police report. They better dismiss the charges while there's still time to make a deal. If Thabo and pero have enough witnesses willing to testify on their behalf that this whole thing was instigated by the police, the NYPD could be liable for damages.

The NYPD being liable equals us taxpayers paying the settlement while the cop gets a paid vacation.

"SAUCES!"

According to the criminal complaint against Sefolosha, an officer arrested the Hawks player and teammate Pero Antić after they refused six times to comply with his request to disperse from the crime scene. According to the complaint, an officer “observed the defendant Thabo Sefolosha run in an aggressive manner towards the direction” of another officer.

But according to the source, it was the officer who was the initial aggressor. The source said that while officers were dispersing dozens of people near the scene, one officer focused on Sefolosha, “and then he continues to track him down the block like a D-back tracking a receiver.”

At the time, the source said, Sefolosha and Antić were walking down the block to get into a car that would take them back to their team hotel. The source said Sefolosha did not run toward the cop as the complaint said. Rather, the source said “Sefolosha turns to him and asked in substance what the officer’s problem was with him.’” At this point, the source said, Sefolosha and the officer got into an argument, which led to Sefolosha’s arrest for obstruction a governmental function, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The arrest took place at the corner of 10th Avenue, more than 120 feet away from the scene of the stabbing at 1OAK night club.

Antić was also arrested and charged with obstructing of a governmental function, disorderly conduct, and harassment. According to an NYPD spokesperson, he was initially charged with menacing “for physically grabbing a police officer,” but these charges do not appear in the criminal complaint against him. The source said that rather than grabbing the officer, Antić “tapped the officer on the shoulder.”

"Naw, I'm all good. Lemme just lay up in this dingy cell with my busted leg..."

An NYPD spokesperson said that after Sefolosha was arrested, he complained of pain in his right leg, but that he refused medical attention. Alex Spiro, the attorney for both Sefolosha and Antić, said that he advised Sefolosha to appear before the judge before he went to the hospital.

That latter move may not have been medically sound, but it may have been the smarter play. NYPD didn't have to let him perp walk for the cameras out the precinct. They saw him hobbling and somebody wrapped his ankle up, and could have given him crutches or a wheelchair just to be on the safe side.

If there's one thing the NYPD is "best in the world" at, it's circling the wagons when it starts getting a little hot under their collars.

I learned my lesson after Patrick Dorismond's demise, when they went to dig up his juvy records and unsealed them for PR titillation. "I'll have you know he's no altar boy... oh wait.. turns out he WAS literally an altar boy at the Catholic church I used to go to!"

If Thabo ever stole some Swiss cheese/Swiss Miss/Toblerone from the convenience store as a yung'un, I guarantee you the NYPD will find out and make sure you know about that.

And none are considered "losers".

I don't consider Thabo a loser.  We'll just miss him in the playoffs like the Pacers will miss Copeland, but worse (hopefully for Indy).

It was a Swiss Army knife that Thabo stole... Or at least that's what the NYPD claims and warn that he is now armed and dangerous!

I totally blame Thabo and Pero, and to be honest, as much as i love what he brings to the Hawks, i would not be disappointed in the Hawks trading him. They could package him and move up in the first round. I say this because im reflecting back to about 4 years ago. I went to a comedy show in Atlanta that started around 10:30 p.m. The Hawks had played earlier that night, and lost to I think it was Chicago. The club has a v.i.p. section. The emcee for the show was cracking jokes and happened to look over to the v.i.p. section, and guess who was sitting there...............Joe Johnson.

The emcee lit him up. He said: " You just took a shower after the game and came right over didnt you?" " Yall lost, shouldnt you be somewhere working on your game?" " Highest paid player in the league. " " You can give everybody here $300." The crowd went hysterical laughing at Joe.

The point was made. WINNERS dont do that. I dont care about " players having a personal life", its the perception you are giving fans and the front office. Sometimes, its not the perception, its the reality. How can you be thinking about being the best, if you out in the club at 4 in the morning, with a game to play that SAME DAY????

I say let Thabo go and Pero wouldnt be far behind. The ONE thing that i can say about this current Hawks regime is that they are professional, and they have the Hawks playing like a committed college team that LOVES THE GAME. We dont need more Joe Johnsons. Highly paid players who disappear when championships are on the line........

You obviously don't understand professional athletes and their sleep schedules. They are basically on the schedule of a night shift worker.

I blamed both...I blame the cops for breaking his leg, but also I blame Thabo for his decision making. If Thabo didn't went clubbing instead of resting and preparing for the game in the same day in the first place, this wouldn't happened...  He would be playing right now and helping his team in the playoffs. He is a big part of Hawks success in this season.

I'm one of the few Hawks fans that agrees with you. There's a reason why they have security ( sometimes police security ) outside of a nightclub. And it's normally due to the same situation that happened to Chris Copeland.

I'm not against Thabo or anybody else going out at that time of night. But as athletes, you can make prior arrangements to increase your safety going to, being inside, and leaving the club.

Take a limo straight to the club. Call ahead to get VIP express access and a table in VIP. And when you get ready to leave, have security escort you to your limo.

Those guys also have to take into account that when you're in a different city, there's a possibility that you may be treated differently from everybody. In your home city, people know who you are, and you're more than likely to get the benefit of the doubt on things.

The NYPD are a notoriously aggressive police force and definitely shouldn't be let off the hook for hurting Thabo.

But if it is common for players on teams to have played a game . . get on a plane to fly hours to another city . . and get off of a plane in the middle of the night and head straight to a club to party .. then you see why teams routinely drop games on the 2nd night of a back to back.

The excuse always given, is that they're tired from playing the game the night before. But maybe they're tired from playing the night before AND the partying they did after the game.

One last thing. It's funny how most of our fans defend Thabo and Pero's "right" to be out that time of night .. but absolutely DESTROYED Mike Bibby, Josh Smith, and others on the 2010 Hawks when they went to party in Chicago after landing in Milwaukee for the 2010 playoffs.

Hawks were up 2 - 0 in that series after 2 easy wins. They get to Milwaukee ( a city with virtually no plush nightlife ) and Bibby and the boys decide to roll down to Chicago for their entertainment.

The Hawks would lose the next 2 games in Milwaukee. When our fans found out, most of us had an absolute fit about the guys partying. Some will say ... "well its the playoffs, that's different." I say that what you did in the season is normally what you're going to do in the playoffs.

Their internal bureau is investigating this matter, I am sure it will be a fair investigation...

That's like saying "If he didn´t leave his bed that day, he would't have been hurt, so I blame his decision making."...

So your saying that clubbing in 4 am is just the same as leaving his bed, knowing that he has a game in the same day????

Leaving his bed and clubbing in 4 am knowing that he has game to prepare in the same day are totally different thing..

clubbing is more dangerous specially late in night than just waking up and leaving ur bed...

^^This...So much this. That is the point you are neglecting to notice Spursfan. It's not his responsibility to bubblewrap himself until gametime.

And it's not being overprotective to point out your logical fallacy regarding this issue.

"It's not his responsibility to bubblewrap himself until gametime."

It's not his RESPONSIBILITY...? Excuse me..?

He's a professional basketball player, signed a 12 million dollar multi year deal by Hawks. It's his RESPONSIBILITY for making sure he's taking care of himself and getting out of trouble so he can contribute to the Hawks organization, to the team and in the PLAYOFFS. The Hawks organization is not responsible for his actions clubbing in 4 am knowing his team has a game in the very next day, and they don't pay Thabo for  clubbing late in night. Thabo is responsible for his actions, if he didn't go clubbing in the first place knowing that he has a game to prepare in the same day, this wouldn't happen. He would be playing right now and helping his team in the playoffs.

Exactly, Totally agreed with you!

Tony parker went clubbing years ago when he was still with Eva Longoria. There was a brawl in the club, a piece a sharp broken glass hits Tony's eye... He almost lost his vision and he could have lose his career. He learned his lesson after that.

I hope Thabo learned his lesson as well, but i wont be also disappointed if Hawks decide  to trade him.

If you are commited to win a Championship, you don't go clubbing in 4 am knowing that you have a game in the same day.

So are you saying that TP hasn't been to a club since 2012....yeaahh.....nuh!

Did you want the Spurs to trade TP then too?

Trading Thabo for going to a club is assinine considering he isn't a problem child and has never been in any incidents previously.

Do I like that he was out at that time having just played with another the next day? NO - but I'm certainly not judging and saying he shouldn't.

Did i say anything about Tony parker  not going to a club ever again? Im not promoting or making clubbing look bad..

but im sure after his eye injury, he's more aware of what's he doing, and will make the right choices that will not lead problems for his team, fans, and to the Spurs organization.

I respect your opinion, and I  didn't say that Thabo should be traded away, i just said  >> IF  << Hawks decide to trade him i won't be disappointed.  It doesn't officialy  mean i hate Thabo and asking for him to get traded away. If Hawks still wants to keep Thabo, im fine with that.

You did not specifically say that TP hasn't been to a club but it was implied about learning his lesson.

Did you not start a thread about trading Thabo and Pero because of this incident?

Yea i did but it got closed, some people misunderstood and thought that i was hating on Thabo and Pero or thought that im accusing them of Copeland's stabbing and telling me that im overreacting.. I made that thread to see other people opinions not to bash or to hate on Thabo and Pero. Instead im the one who got bashed on and hated on for making that thread.
