Zach Edey Conundrum - Could Edey be the next great Atlanta Hawk or is he the next Cam Reddish

1st half Edey was so great. 2nd half so Edey is getting so lost in the pick and roll that Connecticut is doing it’s crazy. He’s been completely awful. Everything bad I thought about Edey is coming to light in this half. Clingan starting to look a lot better in this half too.

Perdue is overmatched everywhere but center and they are very good at center.  Reminds me of the women’s final where Iowa just didn’t have the horses to contend with SC.

Where Purdue usually kills you is on the offensive boards but UCONN is doubling Edey and crashing the glass

You just can’t decide to not shoot 3s when you have Edey.

Purdue guards aren’t even looking for the 3 ball.

 

i will give Clingan props though. He battled well vs Big Edey in the 2nd half.

Clingan has battled but it's still obvious who the better big is and it's not close. He's got 2 bigs in foul trouble now.

Edey gotta finish when he gets Clingan under the basket. Three possessions. One travel and the other three, at the rim misses. Body and standing dunk. He missed one dunk losing the ball going up but I liked it. That's what I want to see. Bang that bitch.

I think all of the starters are NBA players. Spencer has insane metrics for +/- but honestly, it's clear why like Caruso.

I still don't get the hesitation with Edey. If he would juat catch and go he would be nearly unstoppable.

Uconn's perimeter defense may have something to do with that. Letting Clingan guard Edy 1v1 live with the results and keep everyone else in check.

Clingans offense is not great but this was very obvious to me before this game.

I'm thinking more the pairing with JJ and Dre. With both shooting the 3 and slashing, Edey is a great pairing.
