Warriors Waive Adonal Foyle

The Golden State Warriors have requested waivers on center Adonal Foyle after reaching a contractual buyout agreement, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

“We will certainly miss Adonal’s presence, both on and off the court,” said Mullin. “However, we think this move is in the best interest of both parties as we move forward. Adonal was a true professional in every sense of the word during his decade-long tenure with the Warriors. We wish him the best as he begins the next phase of his career.”

Foyle, 32, was originally drafted by the Warriors with the eighth overall selection in the 1997 NBA Draft and has spent his entire 10-year NBA career with Golden State. This past season, he appeared in 48 games, averaging 2.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.04 blocks in 10.0 minutes per contest. In 641 career games overall, he has averaged 4.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.78 blocks per contest. Among the Warriors’ all-time career leaders, Foyle currently ranks first in blocked shots (1,140), fifth in offensive rebounds (1,221), sixth in defensive rebounds (2,006) and seventh in games played (641).

The guy is a bum. He and Lo could have a battle to see who gets the seat on the end of the bench.

Foyle is way better than Blo. He has the strength to give post players trouble defensively. He doesn't get backed down easily like all our other players do. And he is also the top shotblocker in Warriors history.

Of course he is worthless on offense and isn't much on the boards, but i think he would be a huge upgrade over Blo.

I thought you really like Foyle, D. Didn't you advocate us trading for him on several occassions in the past?

Personally, I think Wright was a total waste of space last season so I think if Foyle can still play decent defense that he is more worthy of a roster spot. That said, Foyle is clearly never going to be an impact player and the fact that he was outright waived speaks volumes.

Seriously, if we could trade Lo's expiring contract for something of value, I wouldn't have a problem picking up Foyle on a vet-minimum contract but he is not worth any more than that.

I'm not 100% sure that he's 7 foot... he may be 6'11.. (That also means, I'm not 100% sure that he's 6'11") Still... he's a big over 6'10" & at least 260.. and he blocks shots.

this is a crazy to keep looking for trash player that are 6'11 just to say we have one.
