flava
for those of you who didn't get to see the finish of the game, Joe's play was awe-inspiring. we needed that win sooooo badly, particularly after blowing a big lead. we had scored to take the lead but Minne matched with 2.2 secs remaining. likely looking at a blown 19 point lead to a 2 win team, Joe hit an unbelievable winner at the buzzer that made me speechless. it was incredible. for those of you calling for the Hawks to trade JJ, your nearsightness is incredible. we have one player on this team who can consistently create his own shot, one player who is an All-Star. to trade him would be idiotic... flava
Admin chillzatl Posted December 7, 2007 Admin Report Share Posted December 7, 2007 Seriously, you don't trade Joe. 4-5 games ago people were yammering about how great he was, and he goes in a little slump and they're acting like he's just gotta go?! It's madness... IT'S HAWKSQUAWK! as I mentioned a day or so ago, I was told he's had a cold. I have no reason to doubt the source either.
flava
you see so many possession where the PGs run the ball to Williams or Smith - basically possessions that JJ doesn't touch the ball - that make me wonder whether the lack of touches on a play-by-play basis is taking JJ out of his game also... Gray Mule
Atlanta's big man, rookie Al Horford, was the man again!! His rebounding, shooting & a great block - These are the things that makes him a VERY important part of this year's Hawk team. Quick fouls on him caused him to be out of the game for a while. Ask yourself, "What happened while he was forced to sit, in foul trouble?" Great, nerve racking finish! Sleepwalk thru the 3rd quarter, which seems to have become the norm, almost gave the Timberwolves the win. Don't forget the cold shooting of SS, he went 0-4 for the game, three of them 3 pt attempts. When he's hot, he's great. Tonight, he was ice cold. Childress was also cold - Didn't see the floor late. Still, that third quarter - - Brr! Cold!! After all is said and done, GREAT TO GET THE WIN !!!
ATLien_
I knew something didn't look right about JJ. He always seems winded on the court lately. It reminds me of when Mutumbo had malaria and tried to come back and play. The pace of Joe's game has just slowed down. It's good to hear it's just a cold. I thought he might have mono or something. Man it's got to be hard to concentrate with Gabriel Union 8 feet from you bench.

You hit it right on the button GM...when Horford came back and we had the AH/JS combo in the paint we turned it around and (barely) won. The thing that grinds on me is how other teams have 6'7" backup muscular studs who can control the paint when Horfy is out. Where's the store? We need to buy one of those!...or get a decent scout so we can draft Milsap when we have him with our second pick - RRRRRRRRRRRR One of the things that p!sses me off is we don't seem to have smart scouts. Do they even scout the mid-majors? Milsap tore up SIU inside in college (as well as most other opponents). Scouts likely say - well SIU is a mid-major - not proper competition. Then SIU goes to the sweet 16 - twice and almost beat Kansas - the #1 seed - C'mon! Milsap led the country in rebounding THREE times...and we passed on him. Get into the game scouts! bootsybug
horford was great, shelden looked like an absolute clown with the ball bouncing off his head and arms and everywhere else. grab a rebound for gosh sakes. pretty clumsy game all around, but good solid effort except for the third. Premium Member Atlantaholic Posted December 7, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 7, 2007 I couldn't believe I was actually missing Zaza... I thought we would be a deep team coming into this season, but the truth is that aside from Chillz our bench is quite weak. (We need a shooter in the worst way)
Plainview1981
Al is starting to look more and more impressive. His presence has seemingly been bigger the last 5 or 6 games.

Gray Mule
I have, from time to time, for many seasons said, "Hawks need a big, Tractor Trailer type player. Not a starter, just someone who can play big inside and rebound." I haven't changed my mind. I don't know the name, size, etc. of most NBA players if they're not Atlanta Hawks. I do, however, remember Tractor Trailer, a huge beast that came off the bench for several years and seemed to really work over the Hawks every time we played his team. I thought that, perhaps we had such a player in Shelden. I have loved him and his game since he became a Hawk. Now, for some reason, he's not getting the job done this season as he has in the past. He's not the same player he was at the end of last season. Don't know what has happened to him. He closed out last season with a bang. He was scoring and grabbing rebounds. Rookie of the month or something like that. Don't feed me that crap about him playing against week competition. Sure, it makes a difference. However, it doesn't account for rebounds missed, dunks not going down or wide open shots missed. Big man came in off the bench and murdered us last night. Don't know where he came from or why he's not starting. DJlaysitup, this is the answer you and I are seeking. Question is, what would he cost? If they aren't starting him, perhaps they would let him go. I like his game, if last night is any indication of his abilities. Horford is great inside. When he goes out, Hawks are hurting. Long and lean players are great. I like what we have. But please, Get us one big bruiser!!
