Kukoc????? And not only that but ahead of Tree Rollins???? Rollins is absolutely a top 10 Hawk of all time and I'd say top 5 as well. I'd probably put Mookie ahead of Smitty too, but I was a huge Mookie fan so I'm probably biased. I also don't see JJ or Smoove or Smitty being above Pistol Pete either.

You missed Kevin Willis! :magnifier:

Willis would have been a possible HM... He wasn't a great Hawk. I don't think he ever was an Allstar, led the Hawks in scoring, and he fell in love with his Jumpshot at 7 foot.

MY HM list is not in any order. Kukoc would have been last. BUT... he had 4 triple doubles as a Hawk. In 1 year. Pistol Pete was great in History. As a Hawk, he shot low 40s and put up some points. He played with us for 4 years but was an allstar only 2 times. JJ has been an allstar 4 times. Only Nique, Deke, and Pete has been allstars more than that. JJ also joins Nique & Smitty as World Championship rep for the US.

Smitty was just better than Mookie. I was a Mookie fan too. But Smith could do everything and play more positions.

Willis averaged a double-double for four years with the Hawks, playing 80 or more games each time, and came close to averaging a double-double in several other years. In the three years 91-94, Willis averaged 18.3/15.6, 17.9/12.9 and 19.1/12.0 while shooting ~50%.

You dock him for shooting jump shots -- well, J-Smoove has shot a lot of ill-advised jumpers over the years and he still makes your list.

Toni Kukoc...really?

Willis definitely belongs on the list of all-time Hawks.

Just saying, instead of shooting holes in someone else's top 10... Where are the critics list? The title of the thread is "How do YOU rank the Hawks?'

I have Kukoc down, but maybe he didn't play long enough to make the HM list. I will agree with that. However, Kukoc posted 19.7 points, 6.2 assists and 5.7 rebounds, including two triple-doubles in the span of three games while a Hawk.

It might not seem like much, but when you consider that he was not a guard, that's pretty darn impressive. I think we traded him away too early (even though he couldn't stay healthy).

Willis... Willis is hard. He played for us for 10 years and was an allstar only 1 time. He was snubbed for Patrick Ewing and Robert Parrish or Ewing and Daugherty. Everybody on the list with the exception of Smoove has been multiple allstars.

So here's the question: Was Willis better than Smoove? I put Smoove up there because he is the youngest player to tally 1000 blocks. Moreover, had he played from 1984 to 1994 with Willis, I think he would have racked up those double doubles too. BTW, Willis best years >17 ppg was with Dominique injured.

10. Tree Rollins

11. Pistol Pete

12. Mookie

13. Steve Smith

14. Zelmo Beaty - before my time but should probably be higher

How could I forget Sweet Lou Hudson?!!?!???

Beaty was the Beast from Prarie View. Probably the best player to ever play there.

I was a John Drew fan. Without knowing the full ramifications of Drugs back then, was sad to see him traded for Nique. Until Nique played of course...

Nice list. Hagan, Lenny and Hudson were the ones that jumped out at me as omissions as soon as I saw D's original "all-time" list. Willis deserves to be in there too. Pistol would not make my top 10 list. I think he is overrated in just about every list he gets on. He was the Allen Iverson of his day both in college and the NBA (flashy volume [not efficient] scorer, very talented, never won anything or played notable D). It will be interesting to see if Josh or Al can have the kind of career to get them on the list as well.

Some odd choices there. Looks more like a "favorites" list then a ranking of alltime best Hawks.

Top 5 in the Atlanta-era for Points, Assists, and Steals plus a two-time NBA All-Star Game starter, ushering in the three-point era for Atlanta and being a constant in the transition from Drew to Nique & Doc, gives Unc... er, Fast Eddie the nod. Plus he was among the rare draft choices we got right. If cocaine wasn't one helluva drug, who knows how much higher in the All-Time lists he'd have gone? Reef's always been a fave of mine, he just didn't stand out long enough for winning teams here. If post-careers were included, it's safe to say Rounds would pass Eddie. :-) He'd also have passed Eddie if his earlier years with the Pacers were with the Hawks instead.

If Jeff Teague develops into half of what Fast Eddie brought to this franchise we'll all be much happier.

Just playin' with ya. Also, just for clarification, my "Cliff" was Levingston since I'm keeping it to guys with one-year ATL experience.
