bird_dirt
He's welcome to visit anytime he likes. It's an international airport.
IllestPamfilis
Been wondering about this cat too. Still want to see him get a chance to see if he can even handle the NBA game.
Premium Member Diesel Posted August 15, 2013 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2013 We've had him in training camp a few times and he never has stuck. Let's face it, he was a cash stash when we picked him. So was Gladyz.
Moderators macdaddy Posted August 15, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted August 15, 2013 We've got Antić and Ayón. Is there really room for Akyol too? Then there is talk of Aaron Affalo and Asik coming on board. I know this is A-Town but lets not go overboard.

Being second round picks there is no guaranteed money so it wasn't a cash and stash.

Being second round picks there is no guaranteed money so it wasn't a cash and stash. It isn't so much a cash issue as a rights issue. Keith Benson didn't cost us anything either but we lost rights to him. We still own the rights on Cenk since he has been overseas. It looks like neither of them will be NBA players. Being second round picks there is no guaranteed money so it wasn't a cash and stash. All that said, they go the same route as many other talented players that we picked up over seas. We didn't really want them unless they just blew up.
Randy
So many of these guys never show up, or simply can't play. Drafting an overseas guy (say Dennis the Menace) might turn out great, but often I think its just a way to save money. A few years ago, we sold our second round pick, a big German kid, I think. What ever happened to him?
Moderators AHF Posted August 16, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted August 16, 2013 Whatever happened to David Andersen? Flipped a few more times and washed out. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anderda03.html I think the risk of our first rounders being lost overseas is overstated. From 2007 to 2011 here is what became of the foreign picks through #45 in the draft and there isn't much to suggest that first rounders are a big risk as far as never coming over. It is when you get to the second round that this becomes an issue. 2007#6 Yi Jianlin - played but busted#18 Marco Belinelli - solid pick#24 Rudy Fernandez - solid pick#28 Tiago Splitter - stashed and stud pick#30 Petteri Koponen - never played#38 Kyrylo Fesenko - played immediately; marginal role player#39 Stanko Barac - never played#40 Sun Yue - stashed for a year; played and washed out immediately 2008#6 Gallinari - stud pick#20 Alexis Ajinca - played immediately and washed out after 3 years#24 Serge Ibaka - stud pick#25 Nicolas Batum - stud pick#31 Nikolas Pekovic - stud pick#36 Omer Asik - stud pick#41 Nathan Jawai - played immediately and washed out after 2 years#44 Ante Tomic - never played (All-Euroleague First Team last year)#45 Goran Dragic - stud pick 2009#5 Ricky Rubio - stud pick#22 Victor Claver - stashed overseas and played for the first time last year#23 Omri Casspi - played immediately; consistent role player#25 Rodrigue Beaubois - played immediately; consistent role player#30 Christian Eyenga - stashed for one year; played for 2; washed out#34 Sergio Lull - never played#39 Jonas Jerebko - played immediately; solid rotation player 2010#17 Kevin Seraphin - played immediately; rotation player#31 Sibor Pliess - never played#35 Nemanja Bjelica - never played#45 Paulao Prestes - never played 2011#3 Enes Kanter - solid pick#5 Jonas Valanciunas - stud pick#6 Jan Vesely - played immediately, but underachieving role player#7 Bismack Biyumbo - played immediately, role player#20 Donatas Motiejunas - stashed for a year, and then played last season#23 Nicola Mirotic - never played (2 years to date)#31 Bogan Bogdanovic - never played (2 years to date)#43 Davis Bertans - never played (2 years to date)
DrReality
Risky proposition. Wonder how it compares to young US guys who come out early
Moderators AHF Posted August 19, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted August 19, 2013 Risky proposition. Wonder how it compares to young US guys who come out early On the other thread on second round picks, I just did a comparison of this year's second round draft and stash players against US players drafted at those slots. Bottomline was that they didn't do much since they were all late picks.
