Premium Member Popular Post QuantumHawkz Posted January 11, 2017 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted January 11, 2017 Korver was a liability on defense. We've seen that in last year's playoffs against Cleveland. JR would give Krover the business. That's it. The Hawks defense is the reason behind the seven game winning streak. My fellow squawkers, this is the identity of your Atlanta Hawks. Aggressive defense 1st. Offense 2nd. If they stick with this, they could very well find themselves in the ECF.

Popular Post Gray Mule
Thoughts from the old man: KK, even if he is on the back side of the hill, is still a capable player. He is a beat slower on both offence and defense. The Cavs were in need of his various skills. We expect them to, once again, have a great chance to win it all. If they do, KK will get his elusive ring. That's what I like best about this deal. On the other subject: Millsap. What if, and this is strictly a wild guess with no basis of facts, this happened. There is no way that any NBA team can prevent other teams from asking, "What would you think of this deal for your player?" We know Millsap was ask about. Suppose, after a week of this, he told Atlanta that he didn't want to leave. He was happy here and intended to resign with the Hawks if they made a reasonable offer at season end. Believing this, we then told everyone to forget Millsap. He wasn't on the market.
Thomas
Interesting that the one part of Prince's game we have been worried about is his three shot and it was fine last night. Fifty percent last night in what seems like his first true time in the ten man rotation. The guy really moved around fast and hard too.

Believe thats what it will be for Kyle in Cleveland. A lot of camping out on offense. He's there to hit open long range shots at a good percentage and for no other reason.

Maybe with the Cavs they have enough elite pieces to cover that up, but they surely aren't an elite defense so far and Kyle is just going to make that worse. If he's not making at a high %, I don't see how it's worth having him on the court. He started out last night 1-5 (0-2 from 3pt) with 2 pts in a loss to Utah. He was -11 for the game, continuing a trend of being -2.46 for the season in RPM.

THjr's doing really good, Prince and Bembry not so much in their relatively limited action. And yet, they all represent a substantial improvement over Kyle's body of work. The +/- stat is the only one where Kyle is close to Prince and Bembry and they are nearly as bad as him in that one. Every other stat shows Kyle has been much better this season. I still contend his proper role should have been limited minutes off the bench from the beginning and every stat of his improved when he was finally put in something closer to that role (including his +/-).

This is absolutely right but he is making his 3's at very high % so he'll have some very good nights in Cleveland. I agree his defense has continued to deteriorate which is why he isn't a no brainer impact reserve anymore and is now just a stud shooting specialist who you can't always put on the floor depending on the matchup. I believer in +/- somewhat for starters but as an individual evaluation for guys playing limited minutes off the bench so much depends on who you are playing with and relatively small swings in the score. Not a bad start at all. Now only question is whether he realized he was no longer playing in the D-League when he faced off against the Nets.

Just has that NBA defensive feel to me. Hustles and think that will pay off. Guess he'll have some of the early stuff Dennis went through acclimating to the minutes but it needed to happen. Maybe he really counts by playoff time. Thinking he will be prepared for then by being in the rotation now.
