The Hawks have to keep it simple

Luka Doncic is projected to go No. 4 in the latest ESPN Mock Draft. Jonathan Givony was asked about whether that projection will hold up.

"That's how it looks right now, unless somebody trades up," said Jonathan Givony on the Lowe Post Podcast. "Unless one of these really good playoff teams decides (to trade up). "I think the good teams love him. The bad teams hate him. That's what I'm getting so for."

Doncic is as low as No. 8 on some teams boards.

Givovy doesn't have any Intel from Atlanta. He is still going off of old news during the combine before the interview and workout phase

Dallas is considering moving up to #2 with Kings to take Doncic but Kings want Porter Jr or Bagley. Chances are they could move up to #3 but will they match our asking price? Dallas also strongly considering Porter Jr as well Memphis and SAC

What's the asking price?

Simply pick D.V. Ayton if he’s still there at 3. My-Name-Is-Luka Donciccio if he’s still there. In-The-Bagley if he’s still there. Please and thank you :approved:

A can't miss, sure fire #1.

People were shocked when he went #1.  He wasn't a can't miss, sure fire #1.  He was a shock to be picked there that left people scratching their heads.

Guys like Oden and Bowie were quite good in the minutes they played but nothing you can do if someone breaks down.

Except for him being listed as the best of an impressive class of power forwards, Ranking near the top in every category and his only weakness was an average post up game. There was some criticism of the Cavs in this pick, but mainly because they had needs at other positions.

Anthony Bennett headlines an impressive class of power forwards, the top of which looks terrific on paper across the board. Looking at the bigger picture, Bennett's 14.4 possessions per-game and 1.07 points per-possession (PPP) both rank well above average and are eerily similar to the marks posted by Cody Zeller and Kelly Olynyk despite the relative differences in their skill sets and physical profiles. Ranking in the top-four in both transition and half court scoring efficiency, Bennett's athleticism and shooting ability shine through in this study. Not standing out in usage in any one playtype, Bennett did a little bit of everything for UNLV. He scored an average 0.89 points per-possession in the post, but an impressive 1.39 PPP as a finisher at the rim, the second best mark among his peers and the byproduct of his above average efficiency scoring on put backs and cuts. In addition to the efficiency his athleticism afforded him around the basket, Bennett also proves to be a potent jump shooter on paper. Ranking fifth in this group with 3.5 jump shot attempts per-game and fourth scoring 1.06 points per-jump shot, Bennett has uncommon scoring ability from the perimeter for player with his physical gifts. Bennett doesn't have too many weaknesses on paper situationally aside from his lack of prolific scoring ability one-on-one and in the post. It will be interesting to see if he can translate his efficiency to the next level and become a more dynamic threat creating for himself in the paint or facing up from the midrange in the coming seasons. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Situational-Statistics-the-2013-Power-Forward-Crop-4279/ ©DraftExpress

Alright fam i got this here we go

We draft Doncic at 3 if there   THEN we offer a trade of  #19 + 30 + Baze  + clevland 1st next year   for  #4 + Parsons (gotta eat it to get to 4)   We then draft Bamba at 4

We come out this draft with  1. Doncic/Schröder  2. Doncic/Schröder/Bembry?  3. Prince Chandler depth   4. Collins/Moose   5. Bamba/ Moose

We could probably pick up another player or 2 or trade Schröder for somethnig to help fill it out for a year or so.

There is 0 chance Schröder wears an Atlanta Hawk's uniform next year IMO. He will be dealt for whatever scraps other teams' are willing to fork over in exchange for his services.

I think the reports are true, we want him gone. Big problem is his big contract. Three years at 15.5 million a year for a sixth man is a pretty big expense. Unless he goes to a team that can start him, and there are not many, we will have to send something else along with him. Or take a bad contract back.

Charlotte ate Dwight's contract for us; but only because we took back Plumlee. Something along those lines could be done again.

1. If Doncic is available, draft Doncic, if Bagley is available, draft Bagley.

2. Do whatever you can to get the #4 pick. Within reason of course but even if it's slightly passed reasonable, that's fine. Bamba is a must have and must draft.

3. Offer Bagley or Doncic to ORL or DAL for their unprotected 2019 1st and Miles Plumlee contract. BOTH and nothing less! You can improve Dennis status but Plumlee is washed and must go. If they decline, keep Doncic or Bagley.

4. Under the rare circumstance they do accept the trade, we can see if we can get Faried/14.

5. LET'S GO HAWKS! :Baze: :Nique: :Bob: :Schroder:

Completed 1.

Negotiating on 2.

They exploring 3.

Really?  Still standing by this not being a surprise pick and Bennett as a "sure fire #1"?  What??  Even Bennett was shocked!

Nobody knew what the Cavs were going to do with the pick until David Stern announced it. Most mock drafts had the Cavs deciding between Nerlens Noel and Alex Len, but going with Anthony Bennett is a total shock. Nobody had the Cavs taking Bennett, but this isn't the first time that Chris Grant has surprised us.

Anthony Bennett was stunned at the start. David Stern had a big surprise at the finish.

In between, Nerlens Noel and a number of others experienced wild rides to start their careers in an unsettled first round of the 2013 NBA draft.

"I'm just as surprised as anyone else," Bennett said.

There was suspense right until the end, either because the Cavs were unsure who they wanted or were trying to trade the pick. Most predictions had them taking one of the big men, with Noel largely considered the favorite for the No. 1 choice even after a torn ACL that ended his lone season at Kentucky in February.

During NBA draft 2013, Cleveland had the first pick and they had an opportunity to choose anybody they liked. They went with Anthony Bennett, which was a shock to everyone, but one of the most interesting facts is that when Cavs office sat down for voting, the results were in favor of Anthony Bennett 9-1.

It was a surprise pick by the Cavaliers, who had been rumored to be taking Nerlens Noel, Alex Len, and even Victor Oladipo at various times leading up to the draft. He's the first Canadian player to be taken with the No. 1 overall selection in the NBA. Bennett is a big-time scoring prospect, but doesn't exactly have the cachet of someone you'd expect taken with the top pick.

Cleveland Cavaliers general Manager Chris Grant is used to shocking the world in the first round of the NBA Draft.

He kept the tradition alive Thursday night with the selection of UNLV forward Anthony Bennett with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Taking Bennett with the first overall pick surprised just about everyone – including Bennett.

“I’m just as surprised as anyone else,” Bennett said.

I cannot need to keep going here.  This was a shocking pick.  Bennett was as far from a can't miss de facto #1 pick as any in NBA history.
