Clint Capela is killing the Hawks in this series

Gallo has a better base than Capela. He can stand his ground better but Capela is a monster when you gotta drive anywhere near his direction as an attacker but his post defense ain't that great compared to even Gallo

Better help defender so Nate needs to adjust!

For these reason, Gallo should replace Solo in the starting unit and we play Gallo man on Embiid and allow Clint to maintain the middle.

Yeah as long as Gallo can stay out of foul trouble....

Clint cant take a charge to save his life though...Embiid just backs him down bully style..He needs to learn how to either take a charge, or pull the chair..lol

Capela may be one of the worst post defenders I've ever seen.  His technique is awful, his foot work is awful and he doesn't know how to take a charge.  Gallo's technique believe it or not was better against Embiid.

Solution

Take Capela off Embiid

Start off with the bigger front court that includes Gallo and have Gallo guard Embiid while Clint sloughs off Simmons while playing a Quasi zone which will do 2 things.  1) keep Simmons out of the paint and 2) Allows Clint to do what he does best which is rebound if Gallo can do a decent job of boxing out Embiid.

1st sub should be Okongwu which will allow more minutes for Clint against Howard who Clint matches up better with defensively.

Solo and Snell Should serve as the goon squad fouling Simmons every opportunity they get but particularly in transition and when Simmonds somehow gets past them in the half court.

The Hawks should never double off Curry or leave him open to cover another Sixer.  take your chances with someone else other than Curry.

Hunter is a big loss but the Hawks can at least make this series interesting.

@TheNorthCydeRises has been banging this drum for awhile.

Don't care who said it first but @TheNorthCydeRises, @Diesel, @Peoriabird, etc. all have made the points and I'd like to see Nate at least try these things tonight.  Clint is nice for offering solid resistance to a driving Simmons in addition to potentially impactful help defense.  At least as long as they are going to give freebie calls to bail them out.  Maybe Embiid overpowers Gallo, etc. but it is worth a try because nothing else we have been doing has slowed him down much.  If we can rain some 3's, that will also go a long way.

Gallo has indeed paid dividends in helping on Embiid.  We all knew Clint would struggle versus Embiid but he’s really hurting with the lack of fouls drawn (1.4 FT attempts per). He is driving our offensive rebounding edge though so I won’t trip.

Embiid is big so Cap just needs to keep battling on defense.

On offense, all I need for Capela to do is not miss the bunnies - he missed 4 in the 1st quarter last game...that's 8 points.
