Yes, I still Trust In Travis Schlenk. I love the roster that he has put together. The only move I don't like now is the Delon Wright move. With that said, most people will blame Schlenk because yes he is the President of Basketball Ops but some of the players have to take responsibility. I believe Cam, John Collins, Bogi, and Hunter should all be back within 1 or 2 weeks, barring any more mishaps. When these guys return, it will probably take them at least 5 to 6 games to get back in the flow of things. We don't need a fire sale but look for Gallinari to be the main salary piece in a trade involving 2 or 3 lower tier players with more defined roles, preferably defense. It just makes too much sense in my opinion. We can give Hunter the backup minutes at the 4 spot behind Collins and they can play together in small ball lineups. This will also give more time for Cam, Bogi, and the Red Mamba. We really miss Solo's leadership. I know I'm rambling. Thoughts?

I'm reluctant playing Hunter at the 4, he just doesn't rebound enough. I would hope we get a bruising 4 from a Gallo trade.

I wouldn't want Hunter playing the four full-time, but 8 to 10 minutes a night won't hurt the team. I believe the way the game is trending now will force us to play him at the 4 a lot more in the foreseeable future anyway. It will also give us more flexibility IMO.

He gotta figure out how to add impact players without trading core pieces. My core, Trae, JC, Cam, Hunter, Huerter, and Okongwu. If I didn't name you, you aren't in our young core.

Considering he can't trade Clint this year, what else is left that would bring a legit player?  Bogie? Jalen and Reif? Not sure any of them will bring a legit player.

I think if you want to get better this year, gotta be willing to shrink that core.  I'd say Trae, JC, and OO are untouchable with Cam being close unless he brings a star.  Gotta be willing to part with Dre and Kev.

Bogi is our only positive non core player that can be moved. Package him and the unprotected 1st and see what you can get on the market. Trading anyone in the core is a negative as all of them are in the low end of their value and they have too much upside for a trade.

I understand the Wright move.  But I would have loved to see us go after Caruso.

About the Wright move, it's rare that you get a guy who can defend the perimeter and shoot the three.   It doesn't happen that way.  You normally get guys like Dunn and Rondo who can do either defense or leadership but can't shoot. Even guys like Caruso and Beverley are seen as specialist and not 2 way players.   In Wright, there was the chance to get a 2 way guy... Time will tell if we can find the best way to use him.

I agree with your premise though.  This is the time to trust Travis.

Hawk's example from the Falcons:

Right now the Falcons are in payroll purgatory because they have too many players who are making too much money for a losing team.  They had to get rid of their #1 wide receiver to have enough money to sign all their draft picks.

Hawks are really close to the top of their payroll ceiling.

:hi:
