Popular Post sillent
We have a team where most of our stars/starters haven't even reached their prime. That includes Trae, JC, Hunter and many more. We're over .500 after 20 games which we haven't done in awhile. Coach Nate has actually played young players across the board with AJ being the most surprising/deserving to get minutes so early. We've beaten pretty much every top team/streaking team that we've faced so far. We've won without our stars including our main star in Trae. We are top 4/1st in our conference in a deep league where every game is a challenge. If you've been a Hawks fan as long as I have it would be hard to imagine so many pluses and this again comes with us not even playing at our peak. Nobody on our team has played their best ball to date we still have a lot of growing to do and much chemistry to build. Not saying we should be satisfied but we have to much to celebrate to complain. Let's be thankful we aren't the Knicks (with a coach way more stubborn than Nate) or the Lakers, Bulls and other squads who are over the luxury tax but not producing. This league is probably the toughest it's ever been from top to bottom and yet we're resting at the top of it! It may take 40 games in to see who's really who but seeing that we've nowhere near played our best we got nowhere to go but up!! I think this is the first time Trae is over .500 after the first 20 games. We could easily finish the season being a top 4 seed if some guys get going.  4
sillent
To add to that when our longest losing streak this yr has only been 3 games. We're definitely still in it to win it & we have many opposing teams that could be in our way's number!!
Popular Post marco102
Our younger fanbase that came along with Trae is super spoiled. They have a superstar who took them to the ECF in his third year. They haven't suffered like us through all the hard times. Your post puts a lot into perspective because we have a lot to be thankful for this season. I'm guilty of it myself were I mainly focus on what they haven't done and what they could have done and not look at what they have actually accomplished this season. Considering chemistry, we are in a very good position. I'm hoping we win the next two so we are 15-10 through the first 25.  That would be big for me. That's only a 49 win pace, but I'd like them to be around 52 at season's end. With the parity in the league that should get us a top 4 seed. 6
ShooterSays
A lot to be thankful for? Yes, absolutely. But if we were spoiled, we would still have Huerter. Spoiled franchises are the Lakers, Warriors, Celtics, Spurs, and Heat of the league. We are not the same.

Not specifically talking about the fans here, but if you hear how some of our fans talk outside of this board they are spoiled and just as obnoxious as some of those other fan bases you mentioned. That's my may thing by talking about fans being spoiled.

Patience This is exactly why I'm not as active on the board as much this season. It's like nobody wants to just enjoy the ride and see where the season takes us. We needed immediate success or changes need to come. The fanbase has no patience anymore. 4
gurpilo
I think we have a good team that need some additions to be a contender. We are a good team, still not great. Young/Murray are a good backcourt. No change Capela is a good starting center. No change. Hunter and Collins are good forwards, but I am not convinced about the fit. They should provide shooting , size and defense to fit with Trae bad defense and Capela lack of shooting. They are still young and can improve but I see some lack of strength on Collins that is bad for the team and lack of passing on both. At some point we could look for a trade for a better fit. AJ Griffin and Jalen Johnson are really good rotation players with a lot of upside, at some point they could even replace Hunter and Collins, I am eager to see the impact they can have while Collins and Hunter are out. I am starting to think we could have good results. Bogi and OO are good players but I am not convinced about the fit. OO is not a backup center for Capela, they don’t fit, we need a bigger player that can shoot, I would definately think about trading OO for Bamba. I think Bamba would be a perfect fit for this team and OO would be perfect for Orlando. Bogi is a good player, good fit for DJM but really bad fit for Trae, he is also injury prone. I see Griffin as a good SG for this team and I wonder if we could find a good SF with size for Bogi. Aaron Holiday, Krejci, Culver are good rotation players, we lack a big, a big guy that can defend and provide minutes against big centers. Justin Holiday, Kaminsky need to go

It's a process.

Who has a perfect team? Most have great teams. I like Bamba although I'm thankful we didn't take him over Trae. I get your point but it's a give and take in this league. Who are these players who would be easily tradeable and replace or be a better fit than what we have? Again I get needing size and still like Mo Bamba although I'd bet it would be more that complain about him if we had him over OO. We had Cam which is an ideal type of player to play with Trae and that didn't work for whatever reason. So many talk about trading John but how many versatile inside out forwards with the kinda consistency and growth he's had is out there? Shooters go thru slumps even the best of em. John before this season has been an added bonus in that regard. Hunter is getting more and more consistent but since we have a complete team doesn't have to be that extra star for us to win games although the potential is there and again most of our good players are under the peak age of 26. Yet we're still 4th with an opportunity to rise and individually get better as well as overall get better. This proves my point when I say we're spoiled as fans. Look at the Celtics who stuck with their team and have been thru it longer and are older than us overall. If we're honestly speaking/projecting our team is built better if we consider them at their prime vs us when we reach ours yet we lack the patience to sit back and enjoy the growth. 1
