OMG you hit the nail on the head...This was a recurrent theme that continued to pop out when you looked at past games!!!  How do you solve this?

When it comes to Trae, you can see the increased effort and he's actually being smarter on defense.  Others have said this in the past, but I think it's time to have Trae guard the other opposing PG, instead of trying to hide him on a taller spot up shooter.  At least sometimes.

Trae and Dejounte led the Hawks in total steals vs Boston with 10.

If he really sets his mind to it, Trae can average 2 steals per game.  All of the great PGs except Steve Nash have done that at least once in their career.  He can do it if he keeps making plays like this.

And if we can get guys like Dre to consistently make plays like this, we go to the next level as a team.

My take on a Siakam trade. We got a deadline by the 6th, if it don't happen then it won't happen till during the season if at all. The Financials just aren't there.

I'll agree with this. But has more to do with walking away from Masai who is determined to win trades. When it comes down to it, the market to take on his contract isn't as fired up as other upper-tier players so Masai gonna have to swallow the supermax or he got a disgruntled star.

Early in the year everybody was horrible, late in the year Murray and Capela stood out to me as the problems

We're not split...you are just wrong. 🤓 :saythat:

The issue with dealing Siakam comes with longevity. Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes reported that Siakam would not re-sign with a team who trades for him and prefers to stay in Toronto long-term. This does diminish his value, as it makes him a rental as opposed to a piece to build on.

:good:

Question:

If a team trades for Siakam, and he doesn't re-sign, how does Toronto clear enough cap space to sign him to a big money contract?  Or does he flat out take less money just to be in Toronto.

And what happens if Toronto doesn't want him back?

Pascal can say who and where he won't sign.  But if Toronto deals him, there's a 50/50 chance that they don't even bring him back.

It's not about Toronto, it's that he could go anywhere. Hell, he's the perfect fit next to Wemby in SA.

A quick look shows Toronto with $84 million in guaranteed salary next season, as they have several expiring contracts.

At the moment. They want to give an extension to OG and Trent Jr.

So, some are afraid that Siakam would take less than what the Hawks can pay him on the open market?

Yes he would because u see what happens with Lakers and Miami...players take less

Pascal would be the best player Trae has ever played with in the league. A 2 time all NBA player (2019-20 2nd team; 2021-22 3rd team w/ Trae in fact). Most improved player 2019 (he works each summer and adds to his game) as well as a 2 time all star (20,23).

Entering his prime. Plays both ends.

With all of these so call great players in Toronto, they haven't exactly been lighting it up in the win category.  There has to be a reason for this right?

None of the players on that team can shoot lol only exception is GTJ imo

I think the answer is that Siakim is not worth anywhere near $50 million per season
