Apparently the staff did the rankings and then they had a fan vote 🗳️. In the fan vote, Dejounte was 44th (BR staff had him at 47) Trae in at 25 (BR had him at 30).

I just struggle to figure out what Ja does to earn these accolades.  He plays the same position as Trae.  He has scored fewer points and been less efficient for his career.  He can't playmake like Trae and is nowhere near a leader.  He misses 25-30% of every season.  His team has won 2 games outside the first round of the playoffs.  His teams have won a higher % of games without him than with him (I don't think this speaks to his individual play as much as it does to him being underserving of extra credit for regular season wins by his team).

But there he is as a top 20 or so player above Trae on every list.

On this list, having Jokic as the #4 player is kind of a joke given that he should be coming off his third consecutive MVP and his first championship.

This.  The whole list is moot after that.

This is true and speaks volumes. Look, dude is exciting when he’s not doing the whole gun show thing but he’s not as calculated in his attack of the offense as Trae imo. Trae honestly looks to pass first, he has said it multiple times that he prefers a dime to a bucket for himself, the same can’t be said about Ja, dude wants to make a ton of highlight plays and wham on folks, again entertaining but let’s see how much they win this year.. (after his suspension).. before it I think they’ll be tough, Marcus Smart can hold his own and might even lead them to a better team record than what they will finish with once Ja is back.

If I wanna win a game I got Trae>Ja and Smart>Ja as well.

Lookin at this id move Shai and Ant out of the top 10, and put Trae at 9.

Book ain't better, Shai ain't better, Ant ain't better

Trae clears so many of these dudes, putting him at 30 is totally braindead to me.

Those aren’t the dudes I’d move myself. I like both those cats and think they are worthy.

I would target dudes that are fading:

KD- how is he still up there? How many games has he played; they need to factor that in.

Devin Booker- What has he done to be ahead of Trae? He’s been overrated since he put up 60 points in Boston, that was one game folks. He’s part of a big 3 now so even less.

Fox- Like the guy a lot but he can’t be ahead of Trae, no way. He had an awesome season last year but he won’t be better than Trae this year.

PG13- He don’t play he’s made of glass.

Kyme- This cat should be out of the top 50 just for the amount of drama he WILL CAUSE AGAIN THIS YEAR. He just won’t stop being annoying 😆

It's Ja and SGA that are annoying to me.  And i like SGA.  But how are these guys getting so much love for doing nothing.   When Trae turned in a season like SGA just had they called it empty stats and a foul merchant.  And Trae had double the assists.

Same.  Add Fox in there too.  None of them have Trae's track record or his peak.  And they are all about the same age.  I think too many of the press predicted he would bust and it hurts them to be that wrong, and Trae had zero qualms about embarrassing vets on the floor right out of the gate so there is resentment towards him from some fellow players as well.  Add in your hurt feelings Knicks and Philly fans and the natural bias against all things Atlanta Hawks, and you get a generational player being vastly underrated relative to the praise given to his peers.

At least Lillard has a track record of sustained excellence.  Haliburton, Fox, SGA and Ja have a grand total of 2 wins beyond the first round of the playoffs between them and don't have the sustained numbers to match Trae's individual excellence.

Trae ranks 19th overall in 2K ratings..

🤔 Shouldn’t he be in the 17-21 range in top 100 for 2023-24?

I know they don’t parallel exactly but..

19…… is far from 25, 30.

Trae is underrated by social media, the league, the writers and the non Hawk fans.

I think any arguments being made from 2K ratings is pretty suspect.  They do their best but they have limited knowledge of basketball as we see every year.  For example, from what I've seen on the 2K thread they think Trae's 3pt shot is equal to Bogi's and his dunking is equal to JJ.  Crazy on both fronts (obviously Bogi has a much stronger track record on 3's and JJ is a dramatically better dunker) -- but expected for a video game.  Between NBALive, 2K, and the other games over the years the video game people have missed things on their ratings every year for the 30 or so years they've been doing it.

BR and these other rankings coming from supposed experts on the NBA don't have that excuse.  They need to do better.

Why no advancement in this field in 30 years that’s kinda nutty. No?
