I've been watching the 2024 NBA Draft class and it's been... weaker than usual

Watching Edey on the court is like watching a three toed sloth move around.  What you call a lack of fluidity or whatever, it is slow as shit.  The draft guys who like him always shuck it off by saying "He's 7'4", he's not going to be that quick."  The fact is, he isn't quick with anything he does.  There is no explosion.  It takes him too long to get going.  If he has to stop and redirect, he's dead in the water in the NBA.

No it's not bro.

He's not slow. He's moving pretty damn well for 7'4 306 and moving better than many bigs in the NBA right now.

Even the play you cried about against Utah State when he got fouled and looked unskilled was with the rock. That's fluidity. We know it's poor. Its not like we don't see it.

Saying he's slow and unathletic is simply inaccurate.

Your refusal to accept the truth is insane. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you deny his strengths.

Also, do you know why most of the draft guys are saying that his best fit is the Knicks?  The Knicks are 30th in the NBA in pace of play.  They play the slowest, and that's why Edey fits them the best.

Bro, you gonna go out sad. No lie.

It isn't about how "good" he is. It won't be about raw stats. Its about impact. Just having him on the floor will affect pretty much everything the other team does at both ends of the floor.

Edey faces constant double/triple teams and still does what he does. You double Trae or DJ with Edey on the floor and its 90% going to be 2 points. Edey passes out far better than any of our bigs. He isn't a good passer per say, but he's excellent at the dump in/rebound kick it out to restart.

See this video:  The dive on the floor and how body controlled he is to give it up to the guard before he even stops sliding. This body control, this understanding of the team aspect of basketball is his "team game".

Go to the 6 minute mark in this video and see his passing/playmaking ability (6:00).

Somehow, randomly, my fat fingers found me the 12:10 mark. Your thoughts ....

How do you compare him to Yao Ming in terms of how teams played Yao on defense back in the day on traditional post ups?

Considering also that Yao had a more varied offensive skillset, could handle the ball, a very skilled passer, could face up and shoot from range.

Gotta love KB. Look how much more athletic Wemby and Chet is over Edey ya'll. Both weigh less than 226. 80 pound difference at the least. 90-100 pounds for Chet. Missi like Bruno height and weighs 6 pounds less than college Bruno. Totally sized for the NBA day 1, lmao.

I love ya @KB21, never change bro.

So, the reason he's unathletic is because of his size.  EXACTLY!  That's why players his size have been almost completely phased out of the NBA game.

Bro he's a freak athlete for his size man. You aren't going to look like Wemby at 300 pounds plus. The best we all have seen is Shaq and Shaq was a generational athlete for the 7ft+ community.

None of them were excellent players.

Oscar wasn't

Luka wasn't

Frank wasn't

Hansbrough is the best of what you listed and he wasn't one and he was a MIP candidate and a 6th man of the year candidate. Tyler probably ended up the 15-17 best player in his class which is around where he got picked.

Jimmer had a worst DBPM than Trae Young in a middling conference and didn't have a PG game but was PG size. His career went as expected.

None of these guys were excellent. Most were just good. Hansbrough, very good. They weren't as good as senior Clarke, senior Cameron Johnson, senior Edey, and junior Mikal Bridges.

The biggest issue those against Edey have is really their floor is just insanely too low. Edey floor is very high for most situations. It's his upside that's an issue for most teams.

So Hansbrough was not a better college player than 5th year senior Cam Johnson in your estimation?  Hansbrough was player of the year and won a title for a reason.  Also of note, that of the 4 UNC players drafted in Hansbrough's draft that year he had the shortest career of the bunch.

And let us remember what Cam Johnson is - a decent rotation player with a nice outside shot and just enough defense.   The Hawks could use him as an upgrade over Bey.

Nope. Hansbrough actually regressed as a senior. Blake Griffin was the best player that season.

He did and if that's a failure, he still had some success. In his own draft class, he finished 22 in WS. That's not awful when you consider the quality of his draft class. He would have finished 13 in 2010. And this wasn't a player anyone projected to be a starter in the NBA.

Look at the comp and their player card

Then Boban must be a freak athlete as well, because they move the same way at the same pace.

Boban is slow as molasses with horrendous stamina and no motor. You keep dying on the fluidity hill where Boban is better. What you don't seem to comprehend is Edey does 90% of his damage before he ever touches the rock. Boban maybe a better post up player but it's everything else that Edey is superior at which makes this comp silly and foolish. It's not even just superior, it's an insane gap as well. Edey is miles better than Boban. We had Boban in Atlanta. He was worse than Edy
