I think the Hawks should make sure whatever move they make doesn't further damage future flexibility. As it stands, none of the pgs mentioned (Harris, Felton, Brooks, Sessions, etc..) make the Hawks championship contenders. Unless the Hawks can move Marvin and ZaZa for contracts that expire sooner, I don't think they should sacrifice a chance to make a more significant move later for a quick fix now.

They should go after Harris. They should then trade Smoove this summer if the Hawks do not push it to atleast 6 in the 2nd round. Trade him for a C and cap relief. If all works out well and we make it atleast 6 in round 2. We have to trade a lesser piece like Marvin, Zaza, Bibby's expiring, Jordan or Teague. It can be done but a deal will have to be done this season in which we will not have much leverage. One of those J Chillz for a second and trade exception type things. It hurts but it's true. I would not have a huge problem giving away Marvin and Zaza unless something changes tenfold

What moves? With JJ's albatross contract eating like 40% of the cap we better do something now that he's on his prime. If we are not making any moves just to wait for better ones in the future, lets dump everyone & lets tank.

blazers may be trading camby, and nets want to get andre miller from them, maybe we could stick our nose in there and somehow get harris from the nets and camby from the blazers, while the nets get miller and blazers get....well, i'll let the trade specialists here figure that one out.

I'm thinking Harris is the best one. I wish we could have gotten in to get Billups though. He would have been good for this year. I don't really understand why the Nets want to move Harris so bad. Someone enlighten me?

they nets are not really improving and r still extremely bad so they r just trying to shed salary also avery johnson does not like devin harris

You target all 4 since all 4 upgrade our biggest weakness. Here are the maxium offer I'd make for each player.

I am not including Crawford in any of these deals b/c I will not believe the ASG will pay luxury tax until I see it. That is why I can't vote in the poll. Crawfrod is included in every scenerio given.

Sessions - Evans / Teague / 1st

Harris - (Bibby / ZaZa / 1st), (Marvin, Teague, 1st)

Brooks - he has a tiny salary so hard to trade much for him (Teague / Thomas)

Felton - mulitple offers (Marvin /1st), (Teague, ZaZa, 1st), (Bibby, Jordan Crawford, 1st).

I like Harris here as well.

With the trades, I assume the second part of the poll is the maximal you'd be willing to give? If we could get Harris for Williams + filler and no pick that would be great (but not happening).

I'm for whatever will eventually give the Hawks a chance to put a serious contender on the floor. I don't believe flipping Jamal or Bibby for one of the rumored point guards is going to accomplish that. On the other hand, if it's possible to shed enough salary to make a run at Dwight Howard or Deron Williams when their free agents while keeping two of either Josh, Al or Joe, then that's the way to go.

A Sessions or Harris might not take us to a Champship now, but the improved team and individual play inspired by good PG play could finish molding the team into a contender in a year or two.

I agree, we have to start upgrading the PG position. Though you don't seem to need a dominant PG to win in the playoffs, you need a competant one. Flipping JC1 for a defensive, drive and dish pg improves the team. Second it gives us a skill set that isn't present. At this time, JJ is acutally the team's default pg, default perimeter defender, and primary scorer. I think is simply too much to ask of JJ. Moving the ball handling away from JJ and having a guy than can handle: Rondo, Wall, Arenas/Nelson, Billups, and the other quick PGs in the East is a must. Harris can also help JJ on Wade at times, which would be huge in a playoff series.

I just don't seem much of a downside of trading JC1 for Harris, outside of the LT implications- which of course make it probable that we won't get Harris. SIGH. I really dislike the ASG.

I voted for Harris but I am also with most here in that we could use any of the four. My preference in order is:

1-Harris

2-Brooks

3-Felton

4-Sessions

Surprises me that Brooks has no votes. He has put up all star type numbers in long stretches as a starter, played well in the playoffs, and is the youngest of the four. If we cannot land the more experienced Harris, Brooks is my 2nd choice all day long and not far behind Harris at all.

Wonder why? He's never liked him. Didnt like him in Dallas either. There's got to be a reason. Btw, it's funny how everyone wanted Avery hired as the Hawks coach last year, and now they want Devin, who Avery hates as a player. lol! So what you guys want an Avery Johnson type Hawks team, or a Devin Harris lead Hawks team? lol!

That's two separate events. I think AJ would have been a better mentor/coach for Teague. I definitely think he could have coached this team in a manner that would have gotten the most out of them... Byron Scott too. The only thing is that we need a PG. Right now, I think we see how good a fit Harris could be. Although, I like Felton better.

Not everyone wanted Avery. I for one did not and saw him as a cancer to young players like Harris, when Avery was when in Dallas.
