2013 Summer Dynasty Draft

AHF

Recommended Posts

With the 171st pick, in the 2013 HawkSquawk Summer Dynasty Draft, Team Knee Injury The Dolfan Dynasty selects:

CJ 'The Duke Killer' McCollum, PG/SG - 6'3' 197 lbs

We're taking a kid with enormous potential and arguably the highest upside in the 2013 NBA Draft. McCollum can play the 1 or 2 and will be able to lead the 2nd team and dominate the ball with Tony Allen as his backcourt mate or he can come in with D Rose for periods of time and force the defense to figure out which one to double team. #goodluckwiththat

Current Team
PG - Derrick Rose / CJ McCollum
SG - Kawhi Leonard / Tony Allen
SF - Paul Pierce / Danny Granger
PF - David West / Nerlens Noel
C - Andre Drummond / Andrew Bynum

The Macerator will be PM'd

Stephenson could end up being a really big steal at this point. He looks like he's on the verge of breaking out. I really like the Afflalo pick as well as he's tremendous at the 3 and D game.

Being in Cincinnati I heard all about Stephenson. Even took him as a sleeper in a keeper league when he was a rookie. Tremendous athlete, pretty much just bullied players at will in HS.

His biggest drawbacks have always been keeping his head on straight and his range. It looks like he has matured and if he ever gets his jumper to fall look out.

I even remember seeing a reality tv show about him when he was still in HS on HBO I think it was. May have actually been MTV or something like that now that I am thinking about it. Showed how he was balling out against the HS talent he was facing on his road to becoming mr basketball for NYC.

Nice round

Nice round

He was suppose to be the next great Bearcat here in Cincy. We had that big forced resignation of Huggins a few years before to cleanup the program; and low and behold the program took on Stephenson five years later.

It was really a big deal here but for the most part he flopped in college.

With the 172nd Pick, the (I'm honestly plum out of names) select Special Ed Davis, 6'10" PF from UNC.

Posted Image

Grrrr, aggressive!

The Grizzlies PF rotation has been thinned out some in anticipation of Ed's breakout season. He was already in the midst of a breakout season before he was shipped out of TDot and sent to Memphis where he languished some in Lionel Hollins' rotation. If you want to know exactly how Ed felt about Hollins you need not look further than his response as to why he's not participating in Summer League this year:

"yea I was asked by a coach who doesn’t have a job right now."

Za zing!

John Wall/Andre Miller

Iman Shumpert/Michael Carter-Williams

Danilo Gallinari/Kyle Korver

Blake Griffin/Ed Davis

Larry Sanders/Andray Blatche

*Oh yea, he's had a knee injury too before*

Alex has been PMed.

We're not sure if this is a commentary on the Cav's drafting ability or more generally on the weakness of the 2013 draft, but either way it is time for the #1 overall pick's slide to stop and to set a record that should be held for many years for the latest anyone was able to nab that year's #1 pick. With the 174th pick in the draft, the U-Niques select:

Anthony Bennett

Posted Image

This pick brings both range and athleticism. Draft Express rates him:

Ranking in the top-four in both transition and half court scoring efficiency, Bennett's athleticism and shooting ability shine through in this study.
Bennett did a little bit of everything for UNLV. He scored an impressive 1.39 PPP as a finisher at the rim, the second best mark among his peers and the byproduct of his above average efficiency scoring on put backs and cuts.

In addition to the efficiency his athleticism afforded him around the basket, Bennett also proves to be a potent jump shooter on paper. Ranking fifth in this group with 3.5 jump shot attempts per-game and fourth scoring 1.06 points per-jump shot, Bennett has uncommon scoring ability from the perimeter for player with his physical gifts.
http://www.draftexpress.com#ixzz2ZBD3zf8w

He also profiles as a plus rebounder as a pro, which is a trait valued by the U-Niques (by way of example, he grabbed 12.5% more rebounds per minute than Cody Zeller). While we already have a healthy group of forwards, Bennett will provide perimeter shooting to help stretch the floor and has potential to be an impact player down the line rather than simply a bench rotation player.

When he buries your team after you try to double on Dwight, there is only one thing you can do. Blame Canada.

With the next pick in the 2013 Hawksquawk Dynasty Draft, the Atlanta Attack selects....................... MARCIN GORTAT.

A few years ago, Marcin Gortat was considered the best backup center in the league, behind his former teammate in Dwight Howard. That is what I am expecting of him on my team, because I love how he plays solid defense, and also a pretty nice scorer. Gortat put up averages of 11.1 ppg 8.5 rpg and 1.6 bpg. Welcome to the Attack!

ATLANTA ATTACK CURRENT ROSTER:

PG: Russell Westbrook/Nate Robinson

SG: Manu Ginobili/J.R. Smith

SF: Evan Turner/Thaddeus Young

PF: Tim Duncan/Pau Gasol

C: David Lee/Marcin Gortat

Diesel has been PM'd.

Sorry guys I couldn't get on the site last night. Amazing Alex's select...

ALEX LEN

Posted Image

When informed of his selection, Alex Len began to do back flips to show his excitement. Additionally he was getting selected at some point because of his first name. He is a little bit of a health risk, but if healthy he is the best big man in the past draft class.

With the next pick in the draft, the Atlanta Ganstaslappas select:

Matt Barnes.

He is considered a glue guy. Last season he put up 10.3 ppg and 4.6 rpg. At 6'7" and shooting 46% from the field. In the post season, he turned those numbers up and shot 50% from the field.

Buzzard will be pm'd.

I had a really hard time passing on Bennet with my last pick. I ultimately felt like I should grab a shooter which is the only reason I passed. Hoped he fell this time around but it tough having to wait on players being on the bookends of the rounds. My last round was a flub as I overlooked D Grainger and chose to pass up Bennet.

Sorry guys... again.

With the next pick in the 2013 Hawksquawk Dynasty Draft, the Atlanta Attack selects...................................... FRANK VOGEL

I love what Frank's doing with that Indiana team. He single handedly transfromed them from an 8th seed/Team that misses the playoffs every year, to a team that is among the NBA's top defensive teams. I want him to bring the same defensive approach towards my squad so we win games by big defecits, and possibly hold teams under 80 points.

ATLANTA ATTACK CURRENT ROSTER:

PG: Russell Westbrook/Nate Robinson

SG: Manu Ginobili/J.R. Smith

SF: Evan Turner/Thaddeus Young

PF: Tim Duncan/Pau Gasol

C: David Lee

HEAD COACH: Frank Vogel

And this is why I like the big board. It makes it easy to CTRL + F to see if so-and-so has been taken.

You can just as easily search for the name in here... http://hawksquawk.net/community/forum/37-hawksquawk-dynasty-draft/

You can also search by member name and see their whole team at a glance. Try it, go there and type in PSSSHHHRRR87 and you'll see your team with clickable posts for each of your picks.
