If you were the GM who would be your prototype guy for our system at each position?

Does Kawhi shoot the 3 well enough?  I love Ray Allen in this scheme.  Duncan is a nobrainer.

He shot from 3 well this year.

I gotta have my pg be able to shoot, even though he is up there in the all time 3 pointers list and learned to shoot much better later in his career, I still can't trust his shooting in a game 7.

Hakeem was great  in the low post but he also had so many moves.

I had the pleasure of watching Hakeem up close and personal. I lived in Houston from 1981-86. He was always so smart and smooth. In 93 though he took it to another level, he is the only center I've seen that had players on roller skates at his size. He could play pf or center for me any day of the year. Hell, if he insisted, I try him at pg lol

Imma keep it current:

Conley backed up by Lin

Jimmy Butler backed up by Devin Booker.

Aminu, then Muhammad.

Al backed up by Hump.

I don't like Bud's Center view, but he'd ideally like to have either Gasol starting backed up by either Caucasian Blazer Big. My style is more Adams backed up by Gortat.

Thabo and Splitter stay, add Sessions.

Mookie - defensive PG / volume 3 pt shooter

JJ - scorer / passer / adequate defender

Nique - superstar / finisher /  go to guy

Millsap - scorer / elite defender

Dikembe - elite rebounder & defender

6th man - Horford - all around big / extra shooter

SO many moves...  The fact that Kobe went to him to train is a pretty good indicator of how mobile he was.  If I remember him right, wasn't he a decent passer too?  There's different centers I'd take for different reasons, but in this type of system I'd have to go with Hakeem.

I like everyone, but Westbrook.  He needs a lot of shots and time with the rock.  I don't see this system being as free flowing with him as the point.  Plus I need more on D.

I struggled with that too.   The Westbrook I have watched in this past series with the Warriors is more of a consideration.  However, if I went away from Westbrook...I would say....  Hmm.  You need somebody who can definitely hit the three but at the same time, play good defense.

Kyrie Irving?  YUCK...

Deceptively good.  Not good and certainly not great.  He was a decent scorer in his prime and I've seen him make some big shots.

I'm looking at his playmaking above all else though.

That's the other thing.  Does this system need a bonafide playmaker?  I don't know if you need the best playmaker in the game for what we do.  I'm not running out and calling CP3 for our offense because the ball will be moving anyway.  What you need really is somebody who has OG skills.  They can definitely shoot but from time to time they can make a play and they can be aggressive with the ball in their hand.

I almost made myself throw up a minute ago with the admission that Kyrie would probably fit our system well if not best.

I guess the thing we have to consider is this...

What do we think our offensive goals/defensive goals are under BUDBALL.

I see lots of guys just suggesting allstar teams.  However, honestly, allstar teams will probably do well under any system but some of those guys would be stifled with the chemistry of what you have put together trying to play Budball.

A big part of picking models for this system is also considering what we do and how each player will fit with the chemistry.

I'm going all Hawks

Mookie Blaylock

Pistol Pete

Nique

Bob Pettit

Dikembe

All time team

Oscar Robertson (the ultimate floor general and tough SOB)

George  Gervin (Reggie Miller was given strong consideration)

Scottie Pippen (probably  should have Lebron but my GM has a strict no douchebag policy)

Bob Pettit (only guy to best Bill Russell's Celtics)

Bill Russell (The rich man's Al Horford)
