hazer
Which probable lineup are you most excited to see? Not who’d you’d like to see start or would win the most games, more so which lineup gets you the most pumped. hazer
Some very interested matchups between our 2nd and 2nd/3rd strings and other teams’ benches. Some of the more intriguing combinations for me are further down the list. My fave being the small-ball “Soaring” lineup of Trae/Kev/Cam/Dre/JC, should be exciting to watch if/when Cam catches on.

It may be December when we get to see it often. #1 will be the tried and true if the rookies have a hard time adjusting to the speed of the NBA. I do think if Coach sees fit, he can have one of Huerter, Cam, or Hunter out there with the 2nd unit most of the time; while still giving all three good minutes with the starting five. I think we will be a solid 10 deep with Trae, Huerter, Hunter, Collins, Len, Reddish, Parker, Crabbe, Turner, and one of the young bigs getting significant minutes. I also think Bembry and Parsons are going to have to really up their game to get minutes. Everyone wants to play and the competition is going to be stiff.

Perfect storm, Hawks are very deep this year when Bembry will be fighting for scrap minutes. Very different than last year, although I think El-P appreciates what he brings to the table (O/D in positions 1-3).
frosgrim
I voted with the majority, but i'd be really curious to see Young/Reddsih/Hunter/Collins/Len That could be one of our most balanced groups by the end of the season. They are long (ok not Tre), can shoot, and explosive (ok not Len).

I know you’ve heard me giddy on many occasions over this particular lineup since the day after the draft. I hope we get to see more of it than just 10mins/nt, and sooner than Christmas. Seems to be the concensus favorite of the Squawk, from previous responses I didn’t expect that. Reminds me of the GS “Death Lineup”. I’m pretty stoked to check out the 4th lineup in the poll too, nothing against the #1 starting lineup (a given). Evans/Reddish/Hunter/Parker/Bruno should be eggciting as all get-out. Also very intrigued to watch Cam get some PG burn. If he gets back into that groove, how do you defend a 6’8/9 distributer with your 2nd or 3rd string? Answer: you don’t. Come on season! That would be something to see, if Cam is able to beat Kev outright. Edited September 19, 2019 by hazer

However, if/when Cam gets healthy, Kev will need to really be ballin' if Cam turns into what we think he will. I was trying to remember if I've ever been more excited by a pick than Cam, and I don't think I can remember a guy I was more excited to get (well maybe the 6.5 minutes we had Luka). Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted September 21, 2019 Premium Member Report Share Posted September 21, 2019 @hazer. I think this guy wrote a story on your thread and results. Quote 1. Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins The appeal: This is the dream lineup for most Hawks fans I’ve spoken with because it gets the five core players on the floor at the same time, and the appeal of this lineup is obvious. Huerter, Reddish and Hunter can space the floor around a devastating pick-and-roll game between Young and Collins. The biggest question: Will Collins be able to hold up defensively at center? 2. Young, Reddish, Hunter, Collins, Alex Len The appeal: Is Reddish the team’s future starting shooting guard while Huerter turns into the team’s sixth man? The Hawks need a secondary ballhandler for Young. We saw Huerter in that role in limited minutes, and he was fine, but Reddish is viewed as the better passer of the two. He’s also more athletic than Huerter. Lloyd Pierce has said that one of the areas he wants to see Young grow this season is in his off-ball movement. Finding a secondary playmaker in Reddish would help that. The biggest question: What happens if Reddish is still as inconsistent as he was at Duke? 3. Young, Huerter, Hunter, Collins, Len The appeal: This is the presumed starting lineup for the Hawks this season as Hunter replaces Taurean Prince........and Len replaces Dewayne Dedmon......It’ll be interesting to see how the team responds to losing valuable rim protection in Dedmon. Hunter likely will have some growing pains......but the team presumably will be better defensively at small forward......On offense, there shouldn’t be a drop-off as the team still gets the spacing it covets because Len has turned into a 3-point threat. The biggest question: How will Len hold up against opponents’ starting centers? 4. Young, Huerter, Hunter, Collins, Bruno Fernando The appeal: Going into the draft, the Hawks viewed Fernando as a first-round talent. That’s why they traded up to get him early in the second round. Fernando is a very raw prospect and may not see much playing time this season, but giving him minutes with this lineup will offer a glimpse of what the Hawks have in their possible future long-term center. The biggest question: Can Fernando develop a dependable 3-point shot? 5. Evan Turner, Allen Crabbe, Huerter, Jabari Parker, Damian Jones The appeal: This is likely to be the second unit to start the season. Perhaps Pierce decides to switch Huerter for Hunter or Reddish, but I believe he’ll go with Huerter because he’s the more consistent 3-point shooter right now. The biggest question: Is there enough spacing on the floor? 1
Thomas
Excited to see and expected starting lineups for most or probably all of the season aren't the same thing in my mind. Get use to Trae, Huerter, Hunter, JC and Len for a whole bunch of time moving forward. A lot of rotation and speed lineups will be available for us in every game but you know its all game situation unless we have experimentation in a game that has an obvious outcome already for the most part. By the end of the season we will see where Cam is at and the lineup may have adjusted with him starting by then but it will take a good bit of time. Not really sure when Cam is even 100% as of yet. We have a lot of variations for other teams to have to line up and stop. Good luck with that cats.

The biggest question: Can Fernando develop a dependable 3-point shot? The same progression we saw out of John Collins as a shooter, is the same one we're going to see with Bruno. When you watch Fernando's shooting mechanics, the ability to knock down shots is definitely there. Like with Collins, it just wasn't utilized in college. And he shot 78% FT last season, which is a clear indication to me that he could develop a shot going out to 3 point range. The fact that the Hawks unlocked 3 point shooting out of Len, Dedmon, and Collins, has me looking forward to see what they can do with Bruno.

kg01
I'm somewhat disappointed in this thread. Thought it would go in a very different direction. A direction including the mods allowing @Spud2nique's 'body issue' pics back on the site. Man I can't wait for the season to start. This offseason has been a topsy turvy mess.

Oh good you reminded me, oh not of mine but to pick up a copy, ok fine, glance through a copy of the issue at the supermarket when I’m picking up my fruit for the day. I’ve recently been on an 80% fructose only diet and I chase the other 20% with olive oil and vinegar! In one ☝ week, I’ll be clean 🧼 as a whistle! Currently I look like Mike Stanton, I wanna look like Giancarlo ! ps Don’t try this at home kids, Omari tried it and well, he got traded so... I don’t listen to diet fads I make up my own!
