Haha Crooklyn Nets steal JJ from Hawks

I love the title. Typical NY talk but they did get Joe for a pair of Jordans.

Too funny, if you look at the history of the NBA, its the bad contracts that restrict clubs, and bad draft picks, etc but bad contracts and bad picks are what kills you. JJ is a good player but I wouldn't put him in the top 5. Igodala, Kobe, Wade, KD, Ginobli, Harden, etc. I listed 6 because KD can play three diff positions. Looking at what the max contract restricted us to and the fact that we got a pick out of it AND we can possibly keep Josh, I think its a WONDERFUL deal.

JJ is better then Iggy (who is more small forward anyway), Harden (he is still learning but has potential to be great) and Ginobli (so injury prone) and KD is not a sg.He is probably the 3 or 4th best shooting guard in the league.

He was a top teir player when he was a perinial 20/5/5 guy. He hasn't been that in a couple of years. And you can't separate the player from the contract. He is a fine player but his value is heavily weighed down by his contract. That is why it appears they got him for nothing when they really just did the Hawks a favor by taking him off the books.

Deron/Joe backcourt is tough. They will be a good team. They have a better point guard than the Hawks, a post up center, and a PF willing to do dirty work. This is stuff Joe didn't have here. Granted we had other things but they'll be good. How Joe gets his truck through the streets of Brooklyn i don't know.

Easily the best backcourt. OKC when Harden and Westy is on the court at the same time might be just as good.

They have a great backcourt but I wish Westbrook was more of a passer instead of looking for his shot first.

Joe has too much pressure on him here and no support. He's not athletic or extremely quick and with nobody to take the pressure off of him, the job of containing Joe Johnson is MUCH easier. Now, if Deron re-signs, this is not a mistake. Teams are not going to have the luxury of crowding Joe the way they do us, because there is another threat on the floor - a threat that just also happens to specialize in making other players better. This is an interesting move for Brooklyn. You can bet that if LA could get Joe, they would as would any other contender with room at the 2. Joe has a bad contract, but he is not a bad player.

Have fun paying and average aging player a max contract. LOL.

Brooklyn is going to teach you a lesson. The lesson is that Salary cap does nothing on the floor! They have a billionaire owner. They could care less about the LT. They want to put a winner on the floor ala the NY Yanks. This guy wipes his backside with 20 Million dollars. So what did they do.. they did what you need to do to keep free agents. They surrounded their free agent with talent. We traded Joe Johnson for a bunch of scrubbs on a 1 year deal. When we get the capspace, this is how it will go... D-12 will prolly be in NJ. CP3 will say.. he wants to stay with his young team in LAC. Ask Dallas. They have caproom now. They are wooing Deron but they can't overcome the 25 Million dollars extra and shot at a title that he will get being the face of Brooklyn basketball. So if Dallas with Caproom can't persuade a Deron or a Nash to come to Dallas, what do you think Atlanta (with a history of sadness in FAcy will do)? Yeah, they stole Joe Johnson. We gave up our Allstar for a morsle of meat and press for 1 day. Come tomorrow, they will be talking about how stupid we are.

So you're saying it's good for us because we failed Joe. The sad thing is that we could have traded Marvin for Harris earlier and had financial freedom next year. If we had traded Harris for Marvin and done nothing else: Harris, Jenkins, Joe, Smoove, and Horf = Strong. However, we got our scrubbs and now we will have to play with them. We resemble Washington more than we resemble Miami right now.
