Guest
Lucas Nogueira's buyout is close to being finished with Atlanta. Estudiantes came down a lot on the money and they can't risk him staying in Spain for one more year, which is what Atlanta is threatening. The buyout was supposed to be $1 million after they signed a new contract the day before the NBA Draft, instead of $2M (the original price in the contract). Atlanta managed to bring the price down even further. Nogueira has been selected with the 16th overall pick by the Celtics and his rights traded to Atlanta via Dallas. OrlandoHawk
Good for him if this is legit. What's the risk for the Spainard team if he plays another season there though? Edited July 25, 2013 by OrlandoHawk

WraithSentinel
I hope we get him on the roster this year. While I don't see him playing much. He can learn a lot more here and get stronger then staying overseas.
swolehawk2
Yep, good enough right now to be a third Center on this team. Leaving him over there makes no sense, since we can't get a big in FA.
DrReality
It's probably best for long run not short
MaceCase
Let the actual assets play.

I d give him some min's that's for sure. He might get pushed around a bit at 1st, but who doesn't? We only need him to block/alter shots, rebound, run the floor, get some putbacks etc..... And he can do all of that today. No need to send him oversees imo. Let him learn from the best. Edited July 25, 2013 by terrell
Moderators AHF Posted July 25, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted July 25, 2013 If we pay to bring him over and start his clock, he better get regular minutes. If he is going to sit on the bench, he might as well be actually playing in Spain and then we can reap the benefit of his rookie salary in years where is going to get real minutes.
vdunkndunk
I'd love to see him come over and run with Schröder. They already seemed to have good chemistry, so that'd be great to have those guys come off the bench and get some of those lobs going.

Premium Member Sothron Posted July 25, 2013 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 25, 2013 I have to think if they are going to spend the money to buy him out that he's going to get regular minutes. He has to either play here or there, the worst thing for him is just sitting on our bench collecting DNP-CDs.
Admin capstone21 Posted July 25, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted July 25, 2013 I would put him in the d-league for the season
Gray Mule
Yes, make it happen. We really need a big, tall center. We have a big, tall center. What if he's all arms and legs, he will grow. He should grow here. And, he will learn and play some with the Hawks. He may not beas easy to push around as some believe. Sure, he's not built likeSuperman and he won't be running over everyone like "the King"does, but he's not going out there all alone. Against the opponent's second unit, where he will see action, we believe,he and Dennis the Menace will make living hard for some teams! GO HAWKS!! LamarHampton
Schröder Teague3point king Horf Bebe ???I would think:Teague/SchroederKK/Jenkins/CunninghamSap/ScottHorf/PeroBrand/BebeIf Brand doesn't get in a ton of minutes, Bebe could be the beneficiary. Premium Member Popular Post Atlantaholic Posted July 25, 2013 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted July 25, 2013 From purely a fans perspective, who doesn't want to see this guy play? It'll be fun to have him on the team and give us the occasional rim shattering put back/alley oop, and blocked shot.
Canopy
I read earlier that Hawks can only pay $500K of the buyout and Bebe has to foot the remaining cost. May be Hawks is making sure that Bebe does not pay much out of his pocket to keep him happy, so they are negotiating to come as close to $500K as possible. Moderators AHF Posted July 25, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted July 25, 2013 I would put him in the d-league for the season If you are going to do this, don't burn one of his rookie contract years. Just let him play in Spain. It isn't like the NBDL is some big step up from where he would play there.
