Bebe to the Hawks this season?

Lucas Nogueira's buyout is close to being finished with Atlanta. Estudiantes came down a lot on the money and they can't risk him staying in Spain for one more year, which is what Atlanta is threatening.
The buyout was supposed to be $1 million after they signed a new contract the day before the NBA Draft, instead of $2M (the original price in the contract).

Atlanta managed to bring the price down even further.
Nogueira has been selected with the 16th overall pick by the Celtics and his rights traded to Atlanta via Dallas.

I hope we get him on the roster this year. While I don't see him playing much. He can learn a lot more here and get stronger then staying overseas.

Agreed. Id take him over Petro, Collins, or the rest of those scrubs that are still available, RIGHT NOW. I d give him some min's that's for sure. He might get pushed around a bit at 1st, but who doesn't? We only need him to block/alter shots, rebound, run the floor, get some putbacks etc..... And he can do all of that today. If we pay to bring him over and start his clock, he better get regular minutes. If he is going to sit on the bench, he might as well be actually playing in Spain and then we can reap the benefit of his rookie salary in years where is going to get real minutes.

I'd love to see him come over and run with Schröder. They already seemed to have good chemistry, so that'd be great to have those guys come off the bench and get some of those lobs going.

From purely a fans perspective, who doesn't want to see this guy play? It'll be fun to have him on the team and give us the occasional rim shattering put back/alley oop, and blocked shot.

I read earlier that Hawks can only pay $500K of the buyout and Bebe has to foot the remaining cost. May be Hawks is making sure that Bebe does not pay much out of his pocket to keep him happy, so they are negotiating to come as close to $500K as possible.

If you are going to do this, don't burn one of his rookie contract years. Just let him play in Spain. It isn't like the NBDL is some big step up from where he would play there.
