Kevin Love Wants Out!

Kevin Love’s people reiterated to the Timberwolves this past week that they had better trade him or else he’ll leave via free agency when his contract is up after next season. With Love looking to exit, there’s your No. 1 reason the T-wolves have not been able to find a head coach to take over for Rick Adelman. Love wants to play for the Lakers but he’s also open to coming to the Knicks

Here is your superstar trade opportunity Danny. We won't be able to get him in Free Agency.

Rent him for a year so you can pay him more money and he can see the genius of Bud's system for him.

We will have money for another max for next year as well.

He would definitely be your go to guy. Is he your 4 or............

We don't have the ammo unless they decide they want him out of conference badly. Then in that case Cleveland would smoke us because they already offered their #1 (which was the overall #1) Waiters and Thompson for him. They could likely reoffer that package again but the question becomes would he stay? The Lakers would easily offer their lotto pick for him but then the question for them would be why? If he's already making it known he wants to be a Laker then they can hold on to that pick and wait but chances are they'd go for the ticket sales of Kobe and Love rather than Kobe and Randle.

Hmmm I don't know what to say about this. Not sure if I would rent kevin love just for one season for him to leave the hawks the next off season. However on the other hand if we grab love and put a really good team on the court around him, there is a possibility he will stay due to a deep playoff run and him buying into coach buds system!

It's a big risk but maybe it's worth it!

But others are right we don't have the assets to get him...I don't think.

This is what marc stein said in march. http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post/_/id/1929/whats-next-for-kevin-love-and-wolves

The suggestion is already in circulation that the Lakers will attempt to use their forthcoming high lottery pick in June to assemble the sort of trade package that finally convinces the Wolves to part with Love and end the uncertainty that hangs over this franchise even before the 25-year-old enters the final year of his contract. Yet there is just as much defiance emanating from Minnesota, as we speak, about the Wolves' ability to keep Love in town.

The lakers maybe be impatient and be more than willing to give up their 1st rounder to get Love to help ensure that they will not have another season as disastrous as this one.

we arent the lakers or the knicks and we dont have the assets to trade for him. Pipedream

Lakers have a 1st round pick this year. What do the Knicks have? We have pieces (Horf, Sap, Teague, Brooklyn's 2015 1st). The question is what are we wiling to give up.

If they give up their lottery pick (assuming it is top 3) that will be hard to match. Would LA do it though?

Love is a great player but not the superstar nor will he take this team over the top. His skillset is too redundant with Millsap and Horford. Besides Minny ain't gonna give him away. This team needs major talent along the wings and backcourt.

When in the world are:

26 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists per game shooting 60% True Shooting percentage (46% FG, 38% 3P%, 8FTA; 82% FT%) not superstar numbers. Can you guys name some other superstars (Not named LeBron or Durant) that are attainable?

*waits for empty stats argument*

If his current production holds, he'll become the fifth player in NBA history to average at least 26 points, 13 rebounds and four assists per game for an entire season. The other four—Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Billy Cunningham and Elgin Baylor—are all Hall of Famers.

Assuming Love maintains his net-shredding touch from beyond the arc, he's also on pace to become the fourth qualified player, standing 6'10" or taller, to attempt at least six treys per game while converting 38 percent or more of them.

Historical context has a way of weeding out impostors or situational stat-hoarders—and so does PER.

Love ranks third in PER among qualified players (28.2), behind only Durant (30.4) and James (29.6). Empty-stat chasers don't earn such acclaim while playing extensively.

Turner, who was averaging a career high in points while with the76ers, left Philly with a 13.2 PER, markedly below the league average of 15. That's what empty looks like.

Unlike others in lottery-bound situations, Love also has the individual wins to back his production. His 11.5 win shares tie him for second in the Association with James. Think about that

Of the 15 players with the most win shares, Love represents the highest percentage of his team's wins, accounting for almost 40 percent of Minnesota's victories. He's also the only player on a team currently outside the playoff picture that ranks in the top 10 of win shares overall.

Consider the impact he has on the Timberwolves' offensive and defensive attacks as well.

When he's on the floor, Minnesota is outscoring opponents by 7.2 points per 100 possessions, according to NBA.com (subscription required), which equates to the league's fourth-best net rating. Place him on the bench, and Minny drops to a minus-10, which is a 17.2-point swing and the equivalent of 29th in the NBA.

How's that for empty?

Minnesota's record—which, by the way, isn't that gruesome at 29-29—cannot be held against Love or used as a means to take away from the season he's having and career he's pacing himself toward.

The Timberwolves aren't going to make the playoffs. Erasing a 5.5-game deficit with 24 left to play in the powerhouse-laden Western Conference is impossible. And that's not on Love.
