Hawkmoor
I haven't followed everything with the Hawk's because of football season. What has been Bud's reason for not playing him? He traded a high draft pick for him and benched him?
Moderators Popular Post AHF Posted November 18, 2015 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 This may be the greatest mystery about this team this season. No one knows. Some vague comments about him missing out on the summer league due to an injury (from which he has reportedly fully recovered) was thrown out after a few DNP-CDs. Then they leaked info on the trade to shift the focus from the great new player they acquired to all the kool cap space they got. Now it appears to be radio silent why he can't get 5 minutes when Korver, Thabo and/or Bazemore don't play. Hopefully he is absorbing a lot of new terminology and system mechanics and will be ready to break out in a big way soon. 2 second round picks and a DNP-CD for the #15 overall pick is hard to swallow.
Alex
He isn't playing because he's not good enough. If he were he would have gotten some run in those games the Hawks were down some wing players.
Moderators PSSSHHHRRR87 Posted November 18, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 Bud has said that's due to the "high competition that they have for wings". Basically, Hardaway has too many better players ahead of him... But Hardaway vs. Holiday, IDK. I'd take Hardaway.
Gray Mule
I read somewhere, I don't know where, that he was not showing any defensive abilities yet on the practice floor.

Now Bud is starting Holiday tonight.
Guest
Chris Vivlamore ✔ @CVivlamoreAJC Tim Hardaway Jr. before game: "When my time comes, I'll be ready." Still leaves the entire Squawk wondering when that'll be.
Admin capstone21 Posted November 19, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted November 19, 2015 While everyone is healthy THJ should be down in the dleague getting pt and learning to d up. What is the point of him being street clothes every night?

This reminds me of when Bud said that we didn't need anymore big men depth because we had Pero and Moose... A deep front court. Yeah, right...
Premium Member Sothron Posted November 19, 2015 Premium Member Report Share Posted November 19, 2015 He's busy going down as one of the worst trades ever in team history. We gave up the 15th pick on a draft for a guy whose played as much as I have this season. They won't even send him to the D league to at least get some kind of playing time.

The danger the hawks are running is giving a unproven GM ( bud) the reigns on this team. His coaching system can't be questioned, but his personnel moves both on the court ( rotations) and off the court leave u scratching your head. Maybe he can't do it all like popovich in San Antonio. Isn't that the exact same rationale for why Payne wasn't playing before we flushed him down the commode? Quote “The reality (of the trade is) the depth of our bigs and having multiple young bigs that we feel strongly about and managing how those young bigs can have opportunities and emerge,” Budenholzer said.

There were established players ahead of him in Millsap, Scott and Moose. The competition is between Holiday, Patterson and THJr.

How would he know how the competition amongst those guys would play out until they got to training camp. Bud's now psychic? Ok then. 1st the Draft, then free agency, then camp. Lurker
While I think Atlanta will end up looking YET AGAIN for a young wing player next summer, if Sam Dekker busts, IMHO there was NO good options from 15 and beyond on the wing. The reality is I think they maybe should have tried to trade up for one of the three best options on the wing.

NiqueDaLegend
I was skeptical when the trade first happened cause I had no reason to trust their process but at this point. Having Oubre in the d league righ tnow would be very nice..
