Premium Member Diesel Posted June 11, 2016 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 11, 2016 Beck says that Derozen would pick the Hawks if not a return to Toronto. The question is.. would the Hawks pick Derozen? He doesn't stretch the floor with his shooting. His defense is Average to Above Average. I don't know if he exhibits leadership. But.. He could go for 20+ every night. In a time when Hawks fans are crying for a Superstar or a player with that potential.. I don't know if Derozen truly has fit? ViewsFromTheSquawk
Yes please. Gets to the FT line, shown some ability to close games, plays with energy, and best thing about it he can play 2 or 3

Yeah, if he is willing to tax less than the max. I'd rather resign Bazemore or give Hardaway a shot. Edited June 11, 2016 by BigDog90

His midrange game and ability to take and make tough shots is a joy to watch. Rebounds pretty good but his passing awareness is very limited so he's missing the critical 2 guard skill of playing Point in a Pinch. He's regressed defensively, not a good sign. I can't see him improving much from 3, so with much less spacing than the Kyle levels that the offense was designed for I don't see a fit. Now Kyrie is overrated. Gimme DeRozan over him any day.

Moderators PSSSHHHRRR87 Posted June 12, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted June 12, 2016 Personally, I'm a huge fan of DeRozan and would love to see him as a Hawk. Not sure if he'd put us over the top, but he'd be a nice asset. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Premium Member Diesel Posted June 12, 2016 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted June 12, 2016 I would love to see DeRozan go to Chicago and Butler be left on the market for a team like ours. I know we have 32 2s, but I like Butler's defense and leadership.

Seems like they pairing could kill the spacing for Bud's offense. We would need to find a two or three that was a knock down shooter. Ugh that could make Korver start again.
Trout7
Wouldn't equal any more wins than Teague, probably about the same but Hawks fans always have fantasies about players no better than what we have, coming here and turning into saviors.

I got to thinking about what you said. WHY cant Korver play small forward? In fact, with his age, why not start him at the 3 if they went and got Derozan. Korver could still spot up and defenses wouldnt necessarily game plan around him if you got Derozan in there. Derozan is a better player than a lot of people in this thread give him credit for. Again, its like the scrub logic of Atlanta sports teams just rubs off the fans to where they just settle for scrub players and dare to go get ballers. Bazemore isnt taking the Hawks anywhere. I love the fact that Derozan can create his own shot and work in tight spaces. The only thing bad about this suggestion is Korver's age. How much does he have left? Can he give the hawk ONE more year at small forward instead of shooting guard? This isnt including any other potential moves the Hawks can make: pg dennis sg derozan sf korver pf sap c horford Edited June 12, 2016 by Hawkmoor

If anything Bud is too reliant on the 3 pt shot as is. Sure, a knock down shooting specialist would be needed but aren't those easier to come by? Bud knows it, which is why the Hawks are even linked to him. Edited June 12, 2016 by Hawkmoor
ViewsFromTheSquawk
The thing with Demar is that you would IMO have to get rid of Al because you'd need a 3 that can shoot and defend. And we couldn't afford that if we wanted to sign Demar,Horf, and a good 3 like Barnes,Parsons, etc.

Derozan is one of thoese players that you have to get if you can. Don't get me wrong I would love derozan. He is actually the guy I believe we should target with everyone and their mother offering durant, but with that in mind like a said above we'd need a guy that can shoot and defend consistently against those types of guys that I listed an those would be hard to come by.
ATLSmith
Can't say I've watch DeRozan much. I was too bummed to watch the Cavs vs Raptors series. Seemed like a foregone conclusion. Anyway. Just looking at his stats compared to other SG's, I'd totally take him. I can see how some might think he's just a volume shooter but it's not like his shooting % is bad at all (it's actually really good) and he averages 2.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game to go along with that. Not too shabby at all. He's also 6'7" and the Hawks could certainly use some size. How's his defense? Ranking or rebounds per game for SG: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/rebounds/position/shooting-guards Ranking of assits per game for SG: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/assists/position/shooting-guards
