Popular Post Spud2nique
Nate’s top 3 coaching strategies. 1. Hack Ben - @Gray Mule Ben Simmons nearly averaged a triple-double (16.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 9.2 assists), but struggled mightily from the line (10-of-28). 2. Make Thybulle shoot (from anywhere and have to put the ball on the floor and make plays). 3. Whoever Curry is guarding- Strictly play through him, whether Trae or Bogi. Obviously they’d be nuts to put Curry on Trae but whoever, Curry can’t guard a chair. 7
Popular Post kg01
All these shld figure prominently at points in this series. PHI shld be going 4-on-5 offensively if Thybulle is on the court. And, let's be honest, Simmons' shooting overall is a huge weakness we shld try to exploit. Not just free throw shooting. And another thing, let's not pretend Dan E. Green is always a great shooter. He has bouts with terrible shooting as well. And struggled to defend us at times. Eggsperts just assume he'll be a plus player when it's very much in doubt. And, in closing, folks keep saying the Nix didn't prepare ATL for PHI. Well, what in the actual F*CK did WAS do defensivley that prepared PHI for what they're gonna see from US?! WAS is absolute TRASH defensively. Hot, stinking, unrecycled, garbage on defense. But we're supposed to believe PHI is gonna roll over us, based on that series? Yeah, ok.
Popular Post Gray Mule
KG01 - Why don't you tell us how you really feel? A new series a new set of players to plan for. Sure glad it's coach and not me doing it. 76ers didn't become #1 in the east by just smiling at the camera. They put in a lot of hard work to get there. Will they go into this series thinking, "We must get thru this series and prepare for the finals in the east." To disregard Trae and his merry men would be a bad error on their part. We didn't just win round one from NY because the opposition died. We took it to them and came out victorious. We expect another fight. We're ready. Don't try to bully us. 76ers may win. Maybe not. I guarantee, whatever the outcome, it will not be easy. GO ATL HAWKS !!
Premium Member Popular Post Diesel Posted June 7, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted June 7, 2021 The difference between this game one and the last game one? This game one our shots were falling early. Honestly, we can't afford to be streaky playing Philly. The refs will be looking to make each game close. We saw that today. This is not new. What we have to do is hit shots. Don't forget about going inside.

That dude did everything but overthink lol. If anything he was a underthinker.

Also he actually took over the Milk Dud Head title from Barkley at least for a while.

High5, You misunderstand the strategy... let me help. So far, he's less than a 50% FT shooter. IF we can contain their possession to 1 pt per possession and not a 3 pt score... it works. Not only that... The more he misses, the worse his confidence becomes. Do you know how shot he will be knowing that we're going to foul him late in games. For this reason, most coaches usually take their FT liability off the court because they know that that guy is going to not want the ball in his hands. Think of the Psychology of all of this... One of their best ball handlers not wanting the ball late in the game. Eventually, the teammates will stop throwing him the ball and it becomes a 4 on 5 offensively. What happens to their game plan once you take Simmons away but he's still on the court. Go back to the NY series. Look at what we did to Randle. He lost his confidence too. There were times that he didn't want to take the shot and he was their main scorer. The Logic of Hak-a -Ben is very sound... even with a lead. They are a good three point shooting team. You hak ben all he can get is 2 points.... and he probably won't get that. 1
High5
No I understand the strategy fine. But it was dumb in that situation. We just stopped the clock and gave the largest man on the floor a chance to get set for an offensive rebound.

Simmons was 3 for freakin 10 from the FT line. Our defensive rebounding would have still been an issue had they gotten a shot up. If we can't box him out on a free throw then what the hell will we do win Curry shoots a three? Oh... and about that. We keep their 3 pt shooters cold because they never get the chance to drop a 3 pter on us. If I have a choice between: Curry shooting a 3 and Embiid possibly getting a rebound and a putback.... vs. Simmons shooting 2 free throws and Embiid possibly getting a rebound and a putback, give me Simmons... because if we have all of our players in position to rebound from the free throw with the advantage and Embiid still gets it... That's not about the strategy.. that's about our inability to stop him from rebounding. That means, he gets the rebound either way. You understand???

You’re ignoring the most important part: the clock. There are 16 seconds left and you’re not allowing any of that time to go when you immediately foul Simmons. Nate (or whoever made the call) was overthinking in that moment and it almost cost us the game.

Anyway we won and am still reflecting on the best touch pass I have seen this entire season with just a few seconds left by Trae to JC. Clutch All Star point guard in the clutch. Sorry, got carried away again.
