Hunter was getting looks from a few teams but teams are concerned about his health issues.

OO getting interest but the price is too high.

I think LAL is clearly trying to showcase him so this recent binge he's on is a little suspect.  He's had equal or greater stretches where he's been pretty mediocre, iiuc. 

If I was SAS, I'd try to get him for cheap.  They need a lead guard and won't likely meet what our asking price shld be for Murray.

Including our two 2024 picks we'd have $170 million for 14 players. Subtract DJ's $24 million that puts us at $146 mill. The projected salary may get to $150 million at most, but might be less.

Who are you signing with $4 million in capspace?

We'd need to shed 2 of CC/Dre/Bogi to have meaningful capspace.

Dumping a 27 year old talented player on a below market long-term contract as a salary dump would have to be the dumbest of dumb moves.

I hope you are right and that all this hand wringing is for nothing.  I hope anyone from our front office who is on this board is just laughing to themselves watching us go apoplectic after seeing rumors of ridiculously bad trade offers we are supposedly contemplating.  If you guys are listening, keep your eyes on the prize.  We all know this team is flawed and needs retooling.  Let's retool, not rebuild.  The players with whom we might move forward remain very young giving us time to build the right team:

Kobe 20

Gueye 21

JJ 22

OO 23

Trae 25

Dre 26

 

Our key vets are also not over the hill so get good value if you move them.  (Bey 24, Dejounte 27, CC 29, Bogi 31)

The league knows that Dejounte Murray isn’t that two or more 1st round pick point guard that people think he is. When are hawks fans gonna realize we overpaid because of Murray’s one all-star year.

Really.. come on man he is having one of his best years statistically this is why you aren't a NBA GM.. first place you don't undervalue your assets.

 

Dude is a starting PG in the league with a great frame and has one of the best value contracts in the league.

On the surface it makes absolutely no sense.  The pessimist in me is running wild with the idea that DJ is unhappy, Klutch is strong-arming the FO, and our reputation is hurting our bargaining posture. 

...and I can't lie.  I'm trying really hard not to buy into the "perceived value" circus going on.  It wouldn't be the first time we've seen less than optimal returns in a deal where players are unhappy.

I'll just push back a bit because we've seen some truly "unhappy" people who have openly tanked their effort and performance go for nice returns ala James Harden (multiple times).  If Dejounte is unhappy, it isn't showing up publicly and he is still putting in work on the floor and seems to be liked by his teammates.  This is really far from the type of "this guy is a poison on his current team" scenarios that should be expected to hurt someone's trade value.  Much more akin to Siakam who clearly wanted a contract that Toronto was never going to give, imo.
