Popular Post theheroatl
Has defensive body control and was active there, got one 3 pointer, deferred to Trae and DJM most of the time. Popular Post Chrimturn
Took good shots. Only made one. But he was open on all of them. Didn’t force anything crazy. Looked confident shooting. Never looked lost or flustered in the offense. Defense is what really impressed me. IMO, young players can feel like they need to score to be seen or have their presence felt. He went 1 for 4. Could’ve packed it in. But he didn’t. Never sulked or looked shook. He turned up his defense to compensate. Looked really confident there. Looked like he could hang and he looked like he belonged. Stayed in front of the ball handler. Hands up. Hands out in the passing lane. Quick feet. Good lateral movement. Can open his stance, stay close and run with them to maintain or regain position. Really impressed with what he showed on defense. More effort than most.
Gray Mule
Trent Forrest, a Hawk on a two-way contract played so much that, if he plays again this season, he must be converted to a regular contract. Instead of giving the 25-year-old a regular contract, Hawks called up Kobe Bufkin, a 20-year-old, to replace him. The question now becomes, did we do the right thing? Can Kobe replace Trent well enough that it will not hurt the Hawks for the remainder of the season? Hawks entertain the Bulls next. If Atlanta wins, they will have identical records with the Bulls! GO ATL HAWKS!
Popular Post Mikey
Limited minutes bot the defense popped. Excited to see him get a go tonight against Coby White and Derozan. Meth-Bogi always survives. My man is good for atleast 2 3's and drawing atleast one goofy offensive foul on a bad screen just off strange hustle. 'Strange hustle"? In my house, we jus' call that Tuesday, kg. 1
Premium Member Popular Post JeffS17 Posted February 12 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted February 12 He looked pretty good, showing potential on defense and as a shooter -- I like his shot, looks smooth and under control. He was definitely not comfortable out there though, given it was his first meaningful minutes in an NBA game. Not sure what they showed on TV but Trae/Bogi/Murray were directing him around a lot on offense, before out of bounds plays, during free throws, etc. Kinda stiff looking but played well -- my wife even commented how nervous he looked at times, but that will go away with more minutes. I'm most excited about his defense, personally (knowing he is likely going to be knocking down open jumpers). He might be better than anyone on the team at chasing around screens and POA defense and we've only seen glimpses so far.

I'm definitely the only one that consistently spells his name right! I cant believe the nerve of this guy. It's too early in the week to get me this hot, jeffe. I'm thisclose to demanding a written apology. Thisclose! And, speaking of disrespect, do you know who's the best on the team at chasing around screens? It's meth-B and don'tchu forget it. Last time I saw kg this hot, @macdaddy put raisins in the mac 'n cheese at the cul de sac potluck and didnt tell nobody. Dude catches so much heat and disrespect for no reason I pushback on Quin playing him because he does nothing particularly well other than shoot 3's and he has a dismal 7.5 PER, a negative BPM, a negative VORP, and has done very little in several other stats all year. I will tip my cap to him that the last couple weeks he has stepped his production up so that he is improving these numbers but I still hope to see those minutes played by Hunter, Bufkin, and others who can contribute much more comprehensively to the team. I like having a three point specialist deep on the roster but not in the regular rotation unless they provide serious volume to go with their great shooting %. (And in case it is not obvious his 10.7 points per 36 minutes played is not serious volume scoring.)

But that doesn't change he's getting disrespected and shit on for no reason. He's an end of bench guy getting minutes because of injuries. Fans should be mad at the GM for not getting better bench players (I know you have been adamant about this), or the coach for playing him, but there's no reason to be mad at him personally. Dude is out there giving 110% effort for all his minutes, is very hard on himself, and clearly cares about playing his best.
Moderators AHF Posted February 12 Moderators Report Share Posted February 12 Yeah, I have nothing negative to say about his attitude or effort. He has been doing the best he can and giving 100%. My bashing has been on the GM for not giving Snyder a better bench to work with. AJ's mental health issues keeping him off the court have helped push some of those guys to the front as well as Kobe and Gueye's injury issues (although I didn't have much hope of Gueye earning minutes this season). Saying that Garrison is a poor man's Bogi isn't a slight, though. Bogi is clearly the better player and both play something similar roles with the team. I can understand how "Meth" Bogi might be viewed more negatively but I think "poor man's" with humor is what KG is going for.
RedDawg#8
One thing that really stood out to me regarding Kobe was his defensive posture/stance/base. He has textbook form in that regard. His fluidity and willingness to slide his feet remind me of Cam Reddish. It’s a very natural and confident body motion. I am liking what I am seeing from him so far.

Dude catches so much heat and disrespect for no reason Trae was once called Meth-Curry by opposing fans back in 2018 when he was drafted, seen as Curry-lite, poor man's Curry. Tyler Johnson (Heat) was the first who 'they' started calling Meth-Curry. Now we have our own Meth-Bogi.

I could see Jalen Green thinking, "well dayum, ain't he s'posed to give up and let me score now?" Stinks Reddish abandoned his defensive identity. It's why, when I saw him at Duke, I was high on him as a true 3D wing. After his rookie year, I guess he decided he didn't want to be that. 2
