Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 21, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted July 21, 2011 Hint: Happy birthday to him. He hits 45 today, and is STILL playing professionally, at least through May 2011 (somewhere overseas... bball, not golf). He won his last league MVP (most MVP awards in this league's history) trophy at age 33, 4 years before Andres Nocioni. He was drafted one spot after Mookie's former college (and Hawks) teammate, and just a few spots ahead of a guy Jacket fans lovingly called "Noodles." ~lw3
MaceCase
I did some detective work backtracking from the link in the photo, finding that that's his team name in the link not actually his but then checking their roster, knowing that Euro teams can only have two American's which helped narrow it down (that and he's the only one on his team with a wiki page) and finally came to the conclusion...... Who is "Darryl Middleton", Alex. Wow, there isn't even a 3rd round anymore, you sure do find the obscure ones with your annual gameshow, Lethal.
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 ^^^ Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Hint: Currently, an officer with the LAPD. Noteworthy moments during his 25-game Hawks tenure included getting punched by Isiah Thomas (Zeke paid a fine), and going to Italy while on the disabled list to sign up with an Italian League team... without notifying his head coach. Selected by the Hawks just after Greg Foster came off the board. Still on the board at the time: Jud Buecheler, Derek Strong, Bimbo Coles, Tony Massenburg, Cedric Ceballos, and Antonio Davis. Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 Hint: Currently, an investor in biotech companies and a happy resident of Charleston. A bit "cocky." Once celebrated a victory against UNC by tossing Donnie Walsh into the shower. ~lw3
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 (edited) Whooo! Bring Back That 90s Fashion! Hint: We know the guy on the right already. The guy on the left (taken right before Eric Snow) played 30 games for the Hawks over 2 seasons, and was just named head coach at a high school known for the "Three Amigos," and spent the summer coaching a successful U-16 squad in Illinois called the Bumblebees. That AAU team is sponsored by a fellow Amigo and former NBA All-Star (who, incidentally, the Hawks passed up on for the guy we all know on the right... taken five picks later). ~lw3 Edited July 22, 2011 by lethalweapon3
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 (edited) Hint: Currently an assistant coach for a women's high school team in New Hampshire (his daughter is the head coach). This 3-time NABC All-American shares a name with a popular comedian (that I kinda quoted in an ongoing thread about Marvin). Taken immediately after a guy who Kobe Bryant personally knows as "Uncle Chubby." ~lw3 Edited July 22, 2011 by lethalweapon3
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 Hint: Man in the middle obviously, currently mayor of a popular midwestern suburban city and headquarters of one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. Got hurt and released during training camp, before heading to Switzerland. Became a star in the "promotional products" industry, whatever that is. Drafted just seven picks after Mike Dunleavy, Sr. ~lw3
Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 Hint: No earthly idea what the Georgia native is doing now, but he played 33 games in his rookie season for the Hawks (5.8 PPG) before getting waived. The Bulls picked him up off waivers, and he responded by becoming their top-scoring guard, averaging nearly 15 PPG over three seasons while finishing in the top 10 in the NBA in steals. ~lw3

Donnie Boyce. That was back in the era where you could just flush the Hawks' picks down the toilet and not change much about the team.

Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted July 22, 2011 Author Moderators Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 Hint: An easy one? OK! Just finished as MVP and League Champion in Venezuela a few weeks ago. Two years ago, he was cut in China to make room for Bonzi Wells, then headed to Australia in mideseason where he won a NBL championship and Finals MVP. Slam dunk champion in Bulgaria. ~lw3

Premium Member niremetal Posted July 22, 2011 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 Cal Bowdler Correct! I won't give the answer away, but what a touching story about his wife. ~lw3 Yeah. It's easy to call these guys "busts" and talk about them as if they were video game characters...and then stories like Bowdler's remind us that even for athletes, there are more important things in life than what happens on the hardwood.
