Golden State interested in Marvin?

A bonus is paid up front and then stretched over the deal for cap purposes. Are you talking about something similar here or is there a $6M payment not yet made that is going to be paid at a later point in time (defered compensation)?

Most reports have Chandler signing a 5 year 37 mil deal but Sham has him at 5 years 31 mil but with another 6 mil deferred. Add it up and you still get 37. The confusion is probably over the lockout and him being in China up until March so there was really no way he'd get a full year's salary for ~20 games but Denver was under the pressure of having to offer him a multi year deal otherwise they'd lose Bird rights on him this summer so I believe that his salary is actually 37 mil but part of that (mostly the first year salary) was deferred over the life of the deal. Sham has it different from a signing bonus where the cap hit isn't stretched and included but other sources do. Either way he's still making and is owed that money.

Naw, didn't you just call me out on my math. You better get three sources my friend if you going to call me out.

I used your own moronic source that says Marvin Williams is more valued than Ricky Rubio to call you out as well as calling out your math.On the differences between the deals, Sham is typically the best source on salaries so, again, I offer my apologies for going off when the sources conflict. In neither case do I think GS is dumb enough to do a Marvin for #7 or Chandler for #7 deal and there is certainly not "precedence" on that when there is nothing more than rumor. charlotteobserver and wasn't this posted by you or someone around here a couple of weeks ago. I don't value Marvin over Rubio. The GM's do. They like all around SF's more than playmaking PG who can't shoot. I don't know but I would trade Marvin for Rubio in a second but then again we need Rubio and Marvin not so much. The precedence has been set. I keep telling you AHF. It's been set.

I don't think there's anyone who knows about basketball on the face of this Earth who values Marvin over Rubio. With that said, GS is an awful franchise with a lot of young talent and high future picks. I can only dream we can get something for nothing from them.

Well, we did get Craw from them for a bag of basketballs and a tube of Flexall, so anything can happen. Seriously, any GM that trades the #7 pick for Marvin WIlliams should be fired immediately.

Marvin will be productive for GS next year. They run an uptempo offense. They actually have an offense. S. Curry can pass the rock. Marvin would get 15ppg with GS and get 6-7 rpg as well as the other numbers. It would be a good deal for GS.

What happens if someone thinks the same about any GM trading Josh Smith for Pau Gasol?

Whoever posted that a few weeks ago had it pointed out that the list was asinine with respect to its ranking of Marvin. You read that and still chose to use it as authority. Any list that values Marvin that high shouldn't be used for discussing Marvin's trade value. It is totally unrealistic.I don't think you know what the word "precedence" means. First, it is "precedent" as you are trying to use it. Second, precedent in the legal sense is something that binds people and when you keep saying "it is set" that seems to be how you are using it but that can't be right for the reasons that have been discussed.I am telling you that no GM is going to take direction from that Wallace deal so it has no value as precedent to guide future moves. If you think otherwise then explain yourself. I have already explained why the team was beyond stupid. Memphis trading Gasol didn't set a precedent that was followed by other teams and neither will that deal.I am also telling you that there has been no precedent set with Wilson Chandler's trade value. You are whipping out irresponsible statements like that Marvin can bring the #7 pick in the draft based on a trade rumor (which are frequently inaccurate) involving a player that another GM might or might not view as a more attractive piece than Marvin. Trade rumors aren't precedent. Trade rumors about other players certainly aren't precedent with respect to a different player, with a different contract, and different circumstances.

Why are you trying to correct my grammar on a blog site of all places? You know what I meant. Aren't you the same one that talks about Marc was in that deal. It wasn't an awful deal for Memphis. Either way, would I personally do the deal? No but GS might and that's who matters.

That I can agree with -- don't ask, don't get. Teams sometimes do stupid things and you want to be the one to profit from that. Ferry should be offering Marvin for #7, but to say that it is already in the bag because "precedent has been set" just doesn't make any sense.

I feel you as I really don't want Gasol here. I certainly don't want to see Smoove go. But at least the argument can be made that we are trading for a 7 footer who can score, rebound, pass, and has a good BBIQ even though he has questionable heart/toughness. Marv for #7 is just ridiculous. If GS makes this offer and Ferry DOESN"T take it immediately, I'd have no problem with Gearon or Levenson having security escort him off the premises before he even finishes his first week on the job.

I think we all agree that the deal would be a steal but at the same time I think #7 for Chandler would be a huge steal also. I think what is missing is the deal will not likely be for a player of Chandler's or Marvin's caliber straight up. Like I mentioned earlier I would send Marvin and Zaza for Biedrins and #7 would even take Wright also. I can not see passing on a chance to draft Drummond when Josh or Al are not what I am giving up.

Wallace for 6 pickBudinger for 18 pick.Just saying. It's makes sense. Marvin can score score a lot more if Atlanta ran a real offense and Marvin is one of the rare all around SF's in the NBA.Marvin is only 800k more this year and will make 400K less next year than Chandler.Golden State needs a spot up specialist who can defend. Last I checked, there aren't that many out there.

You must play NBA2K12 and never have played in a Roto league where you have to equal out salaries to performance due to a cap. I hope this will give you some idea of why players like Budinger and Chandler are valued, and some GM see Josh and Marvin as high cost players.Josh Smith salary 2013 13.2 million 2014 expiresMarvin Williams salary 2013 8.28 million 2014 player option for 7.5 millionWilson Chandler salary 2013 7.4 mil across the board until 2015Chase Budinger salary 2013 .884 million 2014 salary .942 millionJosh Smith makes approximately 15 times more than ChaseMarvin William makes approximately 10 times more than ChaseWilson Chandler makes approximately 8 times more than ChaseChase put up very similar numbers to Marvin last season with exception to RPG. And he did that in less MPG.Wilson Chandler put up better numbers than Marvin his last two full seasons, he makes less and is locked in to a very good contractChase is obviously the best deal if you are looking to keep your cap hit low. His production vs cost is off the charts.Wilson is the best average cap deal. His production being higher than Marvin but less than Smoove.Smoove is obviously the highest performer and highest cost alternative. His contract as it stands will absorb roughly 20% of your total cap and chances are good that cap hit will not get lower. Plus he can walk, no strings attached.Marvin may be the deal if you are looking for a potential good quality starter while also on a short term contract. Thus giving you a out if he does not perform. Risk with Marvin is he also he becomes a UFA if he opts out or at the end of his 2nd season.Wilson is valued because he is signed and has shown the ability to score at the NBA level.Chase is valued because of his upside and the fact that he is 8 to 15 times cheaper than the other three players. If you do not get why Chandler and Chase were sought after, I do not know any other way to make it clearer. They are both equal to and in some respects better deals than Marvin Williams.Link to Chandlers salary:http://www.spotrac.c...ilson-chandler/Link to the rest:http://hoopshype.com/salaries.htm Edited by Buzzard

Amen. Ditto. Concur. This^^^Any GM who trades a lotto pick for Marvin straight up should not only be fired on the spot but driven out of town by an angry mob of that team's fans. There should be cars getting flipped over, buildings being burned, dogs and cats dancing together...
