lush23
Our team is in a tailspin, our roster is depleted and worst of all our team is irrelevant with the Atlanta fan base! So do something about it! Teams are trying to get rid of quality pieces and we seem to be mentioned as possible trade partners for all trades yet nothing seems to happen. Take a chance, trade our draft picks if needed. Who wants to wait on some 18 or 19 year old kid to develop overseas? At this pace, we must be waiting on Lebron to retire before we make any meaningful trades. Evan Turner and Omar Asik are quality pieces, just to mention a couple. Add them to Horford & Milsap and let's see what happens. Maybe someone would actually watch a Hawks game then!
DJlaysitup
Well as Ferry making any "Big Moves"...don't forget the Elephant in the room with him (our ownership group). I just hope they allow DF the flexibility to make a minor move or two.
Moderators Popular Post macdaddy Posted February 20, 2014 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 Frankly no one new is going to watch because of Asik and Turner. I'm impatient too but making a move just for the sake of making a move is how you end up unable to pull the trigger when a real opportunity arises.

Moderators AHF Posted February 20, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 At this point, Ferry needs to ask some hard questions about what his goals are for the rest of the season. If he is trying to win an NBA championship, that should dictate a very different set of moves than if he just wants to make the playoffs or wants to develop our young players or wants to dip into the lottery, etc. What we can't do is drift in no man's land where we keep losing games and get just healthy enough to scrap into the playoffs for a first round trouncing by Miami or Indiana.

Premium Member Peoriabird Posted February 20, 2014 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 Why do so many fans want to be .500. This team had a chance with a healthy Horford but no chance without him. So adding pieces at this point does nothing for us this season except worsen our draft position.
Premium Member Sothron Posted February 20, 2014 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 This deadline today is going to be fascinating. I'm wondering if we will tank the natural way because no trades will mean exactly that. If we do trade will it just be a DPE for Kaman type of deal to try and barely make the playoffs? hazer
He's just been sitting around twiddling his thumbs until now, glad you've informed him how to proceed. I bet he hadn't even thought of that until you pointed it out just now (green font) Edited February 20, 2014 by hazer
Buzzard
Ferry will only make a move if it improves us for longer than this season. Four scenarios come to mind: 1- He can add a depth player such as Kaman or Hill2- He can add a young starter such as Turner3- He can add a pick4 - He can help our cap for next season Everyone in the league is looking at one or more of those options as well; but if he can get any of the above done, I'll be happy. Guest Zone
No panic trades please. There were always going to be teams that decided to throw in the towel at the trade deadline this season and Atlanta would have an understandable reason to do so. Hell, they're trying to win games now but can't due to injury reasons. Pairing a lottery pick with a healthy Hawks team next season is the best route to take at this point. Trying to salvage a season by sending away what little assets we have does nothing for us in the long run.

Buzzard
So what exactly are we trading to get Turner? And please don't say a draft pick because that would absolutely make no senseIf Turner gets moved, he won't bring much. It could be a combo of 2nds or even a 1st round pick two years from now. Whom ever goes after him faces a real possibility of a team giving him a offer that could be considered over paying. Huge risk with Turner in that regard, and it is exactly why Philly wants to sale. lush23
This season ended when Horford went down, so I am not saying we need to make a deal to salvage this season. Players like Turner (25yr) and Osik (27yr) are in their prime and would give us HOPE for the next few years when matched with Horford (27yr) and Milsap (28yr). Right now I see NO HOPE. With where we will most likely be drafting this season, we will be looking at adding a player that is years away from being a major contributor like Turner would be, see last years draft. The Hawks are so irrelevant right now.

Bonkers
Plz don't try to make this team a lil bit better. That is counterproductive right now I like that the Hawks are playing hard and losing right now, it's a good thing Say it with me.....No playoffs!!!

Moderators AHF Posted February 20, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 LOL! What do you think they are going to get for Turner? It won't be much. Everyone knows that Philly has zero intention of signing Turner to a qualifying offer this summer which means he will be an unrestricted free agent if he isn't traded. Any team acquiring him has to be willing to pay him $9M to make him a restricted free agent and he should snap that up as quickly as possible if anyone offers it to him. His market rate is in the $4-7M range but there is a risk someone will stupidly overpay which makes him doubly risky.
