Honestly he does not deserve that much heat.  Al has never been that guy and will never be that guy.  He tis what he tis.  Al is a stand-still shooter.   He can knock down good looks but don't ever expect him to be that guy that can put the team on his back.

It depends on what you expect. Offensively, he will never be that guy but he does so much for use and like Lebron, you can use him to hide others weaknesses. Not to Lebron level due to talent but nonetheless.

I love Al but he went out like a chump, sorry. At least give the Hawks an 'average' performance in the biggest game of the season. But he may have been injured though. He had to be injured because that wasn't like Al at all. Nabisco Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies comes to mind when I think about last night's performance.

What lies? That he wasn't our best player for the entire playoffs? He wasn't. That goes to DMC fact.

Al had 3 memorable games this playoffs. 1 against Nets, 1 against Wiz and last nights game against Cavs for all the wrong reasons. No lies just facting.

He had plenty of good games in the playoffs especially impact wise. He had some clunkers. This wasn't the worst, the worst was game 2.

So your basing Al's future with the Hawks on one bad game when he has given us nearly a decade of excellent play and was really the only player outside of Demarre that showed heart throughout the first two rounds? Korver, Millsap, and Schröder were ice cold the last two weeks, Teague has been inconsistent, and the bench didn't perform... And you want to blame Horford for not showing up in one game? Demarre was the only other guy that seemed to give a damn.

The nail was in the coffin before tip-off in Game 4 and there is a reason why no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series. It's cause by that point, you are so mentally and physically drained and defeated that climbing an ant mound feels like Everest. I don't blame them for packing it in. We couldn't hit a shot all series and their bigs dominated both ends of the floor and Horford is expected to just flip a switch and make it happen? What was Horford suppose to do? What can Horford do about 3 pointers not falling, Korver basically not being there offensively, our bench giving us nothing, and Millsap getting thrown around in the paint like clothes in a dryer? Is he supposed to throw the team on his back in the last game of the season and will a triple-double performance when that goes against the philosophy Bud has instilled the last two seasons? We are a team that relies on a team effort, not the effort of one player. He deserves criticism as does every player and coach on the roster, but he doesn't deserve to be called a sucker and a fraud when he gave our team so much the last 7 seasons.

No I'm basing it off of his lackluster performance in a win or go home playoff game. He literally put up 2 damn points. Muscala put up more than that in just 3 minutes and 30 seconds. And it was against Timofey Mozgov.

Karl Malone at age 28 put up playoff numbers of 29.1 ppg, .618 TS%, 11.3 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.2 bpg

 

So you can see why supes calls out Karl's inferior playoff numbers -- especially with the inferior shooting efficiency that supes focused on.  

 

It is just an unfair comparison to Al.  Every year this debate creeps up and Karl's same age numbers destroy Al's and there is some excuse for not only why Karl's numbers are meaningless but why Al is clearly better.

And yet, the entire fan base and media expected Jeff Teague to do all of the above.  And had he came up with 2 points and 3 assists in a closeout game, 70% of this fan base would've dropped a nuclear bomb on this site.

There was one play last night that told me Al had packed it in. He was in position to grab a rebound but just watched it. Then instead of chasing it down he kinda just stood there. An injured DMC chased it down and threw it back in before it went out of bounds. It was no type of hustle or effort from Al.

Move Horford to PF. Look at pace, look at assists, look at defense and the tape and it's close. We know Malone will dominate PPG. Look at the pace, look at the position. Malone played next to a 7'2 and 7'4 center. Al is next to a 6'7 undersized PF.
