Exactly.

I think there's a failure of understading here.  Many of us assumed that Al was a guarantee...  However, did anybody ask Ressler if he wanted to Max Al for the Next 5 years?

IF Dwight is talking right, it's a possibility that more than just a contingency, Dwight may be our choice to replace Al.

Yeah, I think we would start all 3 even if we meant to primarily rotate them together at PF/C.

Blocked shots do not equal good defense.

Dwight gets totally lost on defensive assignments and will sell out his assignment to go for a highlight block. Much like Whiteside currently and Josh Smith before him. Howard has zero interest in learning how to actually play defense on his man. He'd rather go for empty stats.

Al Horford went for 30/14 and 22/9 on him last season. The same Al Horford that people here say can't play inside or rebound.

Ask Diesel and he will talk about what he did to us when he was a top 3 NBA player. Derrick Rose was once a top 3 NBA player.

Honestly, we could.

Dennis

Korver

Sap

Horford

Dwight

But if Dwight technically wants to win and still get starter minutes, he can come here. He's way too big of a risk to be our #1 or #2 big man. Way too big of a risk. As a #3, he's perfect.

It's funny as hell.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Bud tells Dwight or Al that they will have to come off the bench.

Part of the reason that we can't take a game from Cleveland is that Tristan Thompson OWNS Horf on the boards.  Thompson averages more Offensive rebounds that Horf has rebounds...head to head.   Dwight may be a shell of himself defensively but he still has the pride to not let Thompson rule him the way that Al does.

Because you post nonsense. I don't mind you not wanting him but what I hate is when you put players like Dwight Howard in front when it's BS. You have always done that. Remember your Smoove>>>Al days.

It would be our luck to finally make a big splash in free agency and get a washed up, injury prone malcontent. I love the idea of "healthy, motivated Dwight," but I have serious doubts. I'd be more onboard with taking the chance if we weren't so weak on the perimeter. We desperately need to add a scoring threat.

If you haven't noticed yet.  Al is the reason why we have always had a Logjam.  Al has made a career out of being an undersized C.  It's cool during the regular season. Hell, he can round up a lot of good efficiency stats because he's usually faster than most Centers.  However, for the past 2 post seasons... he has been Tristan Thompson's Toy (3T).    I mean Damn.  He can't keep Thompson off the offensive boards and that's the Cavs whole plan.  Sure we have a great defensive efficiency but YOUR BOY's  poor rebounding gives the Cavs the chance to get a reset everytime they want one...   THATs the DAMN FACTS Supe.

You want stats... Let me give you CLEAR STATS...  These are AL's total rebounds against the Cavs over the past 2 years in the playoffs:

7, 6, 4, 2, 6, 3, 1, 4.

That's 33 rebounds (total) in 8 games.   By my calculation that's 4.125 rebounds Per game..  Now I would further make my point by posting Thompson's rebounds... Hell, his offensive rebounds...  which is about a 5.5 average...  But there's no need.  That's the simple truth.  Horford is 3T.  So now we are trying to come up with all kinds of ways to cover up this thing...  We want to bring in the right BU C...   May as well say.. Al, you take off this series because we're going to let Noel play against Thompson because this 2nd year kid will get more rebounds than you will.

So if you wanted to know why I'm not the biggest Al supporter...    76426314,,,,

How in the hell do you play 29 minutes at Center and only get 1 freaking rebound?

This is a little more than Agent conjuring.  Our people are having a meeting with Dwight.   Our people have named Dwight as a target.  Sure, it could be him using us.. However, put yourself in Dwight's shoes... Why not play for Atlanta NOW?.

Oh, I acknowledge that the meeting is happening.  The level of interest Howard has in playing here is what I question.  And, 'why not play for Atlanta now'?  For the same reasons he never wanted to play here before, most of which appear to have to do with non-basketball stuff that hasn't changed since his last bout with free agency.

I do think you have a blindspot when it comes to Alice.  In the Al v Howard comparison, I can see the merits of each.  They both bring somewhat different things to the table.  It's almost like they don't play the same position.  I think that's what you miss.  You seem to be thinking, "well al does this and dwight can't, therefore howard is no good".  It's not necessarily that simple.

Are you kidding?  Sap's not going to the bench happy.  For all purposes, this is Sap's LAST contract year.  He wants exposure.  He's not ready to be a bench guy you.

You do however make a good point about Howard's interest in us.   I think that he's prolly very interested NOW.  Now that Charles Barkley has laid down the gauntlet that  Atlanta Needs Howard and Howard needs Atlanta.. I believe that it has prolly picked up traction.  He has placed us in his top 3..  And after the fiasco in Houston, I'm sure he's starting to think about wise basketball moves that will lengthen his playing career and still give him a shot at a championship.

If we get Howard it means Horford is leaving. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think Howard would do much better in Atlanta than in Houston, we would become a better rebounding team and we would have much better interior presence but we would also lose some great things Horford has done regularly.

There is no way we would sign Howard and re-sign Horford.

Diesel, once again you are a what you see is what you get fan, you don't have the BBIQ to see what Al does for this team in the regular season or the playoffs. Your focus is some damn rebounds. If it wasn't for Al contesting shots and switching at elite levels, we would have been Toronto getting swept and killed but no close games whatsoever. You need to realize that but once again, you don't understand the game well enough. I have a friend like you. He loves Gerald Green,  Jordan Crawford,  Marshon Brooks, Jamal Crawford, Josh Smith and J.R. Smith. That's the type of fan you are. There is nothing wrong with that but you are dead wrong on this.

I laugh HARD at people wanting to replace Al with Dwight and thinking this would somehow work.

I laugh EVEN HARDER at people wanting to replace Paul with Dwight and thinking this would somehow work.

Seriously. These people have got to get their heads checked . :ahf:

I want to be a fly on the wall when Bud talks to Dwight period.  "Dwight, we have a system here that is very team oriented offensively and defensively."

"What I'm saying is you'd be held responsible for your defensive assignments."

"We'd also need you to be a good team player on offense.  Keep the ball moving, work on your free throw form, practice hard, and keep the drama away from our team.  Basically we want to hold you accountable so you can better yourself.  Thoughts?"

"Welp, good talk.  See you later!  Good luck with the other teams."

I would stop there because that's a QED... but since you're so high on talking about the greatness of AL.. Let me ask you...  What do we get from Al that we can't get from Sap?  You say you want to go back to 2 guys doing the same thing.
