gurpilo
15m$ of cap space and presumably a hole to be covered at Center position. Assuming that Dedmon will ve gone with a good contract and Atlanta will not pay big bucks for him what would be the big you would like to sign? Two options I would like 1- Christian Wood, young big with upside, can play PF and C, very mobile, can space the floor, good rim protector, more than average defender. His contract should be cheap, around 4m$ and would provide excellent value for that price, similar to Len. Good fit for the team. 2- Gorgui Dieng, we should have taken him instead of Bebe, also can play PF and C, good rebounder, can space the floor also, good defender. Good fit for Atlanta, his contract is high but he is a very good player when given minutes. Minnesota wants to sign De Angelo, need to dump salaries. We can take Dieng and Teague contracts for Plumlee, Mnnesota needs to add a first so that we can take those salaries. Teague is also expiring, Dieng has 2 years left. 3- Noel, defensive specialist, good rim protector, excellent rebounder, cannot hit the 3, cannot space the floor. Not so good fit on the offensive end but really solves the need of defensive presence at Center position. Those are my 3 top choices. What would be your choice? Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted June 30, 2019 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 30, 2019 1. IIRC Wood has a partially guaranteed contract with NOP, fully guaranteed 1st day of season if not waived. 2. I don't think that trade works. Hawks are taking back too much salary and don't have the capspace for it. Also that's too much money for only 1 st round pick plus Dieng's additional year is problematic. 3. I'd be ok with Noel at minimal cost. Here's the list of FA centers: https://www.google.com/amp/s/hoopshype.com/2019/06/21/nba-free-agency-2019-centers/amp/
Plainview1981
I'd like to have Teague back, but I don't see it happening. He is still too good to get spare minutes behind Young and you can't play them together.
Premium Member supermariowest Posted June 30, 2019 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 30, 2019 I wonder if we’ve kicked the tires on Horford at all (would require stretching Plumlee but it’s otherwise possible, I think?). He’ll have multiple offers and he’s a great fit anywhere, so it’s a matter of what he’s looking for.

I will be happy with signing Noel to come in to be a defensive anchor when needed. No way would I sign him to start

After Alice and his Dad's colors were shown I would hope we would not piss on the fckr if he was on fire. gurpilo
Damn I thought Wood could be signed. I understand trade with Minnesota might be tough but I think Dieng is a great fit for us. Other options we might consider would be Looney and Kaminski although Noel is a better option in my opinion
Gray Mule
We want Dedmon back. But, if he leaves, then his $$$ on the cap goes with him. That gives the Hawks a little more $$$. Just saying - - - -
gurpilo
Seems the Hawks are interested in Kyke O'quinn, a little undersized in my opinion
gurpilo
So after the first hours of Free Agency we still have some options. FA: Noel, Looney, WCS, O'Quinn, Kaminski, Vonleh. I would still consider a trade for Dieng. Plumlee for Dieng and a first, win for us.
enrique
Is Brook Lopez available? If we are wanting a floor spacing big who can also patrol the rim he might be available for a one year deal. Not sure what other teams are offering him. It was for sure, the Bucks had him on the cheap last year for 1 year.

gurpilo
Christian Wood appears as a FA on some sites, can anyone confirm if he is a FA or not?
gurpilo
So after first days of FA our options for a frontcourt addition got trimmed to Javale Mcgee Joakim Noah Cheick Diallo Christian Wood if he finnally is a FA. I would go with either Wood or Diallo, if not give all the time to Bruno. He don't have a reliable option.

Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted July 3, 2019 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 3, 2019 Here's an idea: Trade for John Henson and a couple 2nds. 1yr/$10.5 mil expiring contract. I think Cavs are in luxury tax.
