The Carlisle thread on Realgm is full of fanboys making all kinds of excuses to preserve their narratives. How in the world can Dallas fans watch this exact same thing happen in the same state a season ago and not acknowledge what the problem is? Oh well, glad it's their problem and not ours.

This should alleviate the concerns of anyone who had "buyer's remorse" or is on the fence about the trade. Here's an article from ESPN to cut through the excuses and deflections and to remove any doubt as to why Carlisle abruptly left Dallas:

You’re seeing why Luka won’t be leaving Dallas. Cuban will cut ties with anyone including his own children to keep Luka around.

Ironically, I wonder if Trae's situation here might have influenced Cuban's decision a little. Everyone can see how much of a difference it made for Trae and the rest of the team when LP was replaced with Nate. Wouldn't be at all surprised if noticing just how much of a difference that made helped force Cuban's hand somewhat.

Carlisle can call it what he wants, but he didn't just wake up and think to himself he'd be better off not coaching one of the great young talents in the NBA without some "help." 

There are enough reports of plenty of behind the scenes friction with Luka and Cuban towards Carlisle. Cuban allowing him to say he resigned helps everyone save face; but let's not pretend this is something it isn't. Carlisle got the
