I've said this before, but the last element they should add, is to have a fan from each team be a part of this.

 

- Have an in-arena random drawing of season ticket holders on opening night, to determine who their team's "Fan representative" will be.  Have to do it on opening night, to give that fan the possibility to make arrangements 4 weeks in advance.

 

 

 - If their team reaches the Final 4, that fan gets an all expenses paid trip to Vegas ( along with a spouse if they have one )

• 3 night stay at the Bellagio

 

• VIP access to all team activities ( practices, press conferences, dinners, etc )
• Courtside seat on or near their team's bench

 

- If the fan's team wins the tournament, the fan gets 1 million and gets to be a part of the celebration with the team

 

If you want players and fans to have maximum interest in this, that's how it should be done.  Don't make it just about the players.  Make the fans a part of this and give them a chance at a big financial windfall.

Imagine Trae making a shot like this in the Finals of the In-Season tournament to win it, and the joy it would bring to not only him and his team, but to the fan base AND the fan that just won a million dollars.

 

 

If people give a damn about a random regular season game in November, you'd definitely care about winning this in-season tournament, if we got the shot to do it.  But I think adding the fan element to all of this would be the icing on the cake.

Am I the only one not really excited about this? I guess the newness of it, but the format doesn't really make much sense to me. Maybe it's just me because I haven't read up on it.

I felt the same way... But I watched the GS and Thunder last night and then I watched Dallas play Denver.     They were playing like these games mattered.   Especially Denver.
