You know a vet pg gonna back Trae 2nd string don’t play.

The primary backup for Trae is DM who is a vet.  Only injury risk makes me even a little concerned about that.

Question I am asking this morning.  Who is the breakout star on this roster?

Not necessarily for this season, but at any point in the future.

I see four candidates: AJ, JJ, Bufkin, and Gueye.  To me, best odds are on AJ and Gueye is the dark horse.

Well breakout candidate is clearly AJ and I think chances are good he make a leap this year.

JJ might be but I think is less likely, shooting is a problem.

Bufkin and Gueye... I prefer to take a look at them before any judgment but I think is less likely than JJ.

I feel like Bey starts over JJ.

That is my prediction today as well.  If JJ earns the starting role that is great, though, because I think we have a good idea what to expect from Bey and it was excellent.

Well, we are officially thin at PF and C, a trade of FA signing should be on the way....

Gueye offensively is a 4 at this stage but so is JJ and defensively both seem to be 3s. Bey best defensively as a 4.

Move Gueye down to the 4. He's a 4 despite his weight.

If I have to bet, Martin doesn't stick (just my gut), Vit ends up traded one way or another.

Bey will start at the beginning of the season, JJ will be the starter by the end of the season.
Gueye will be College Park/DNP/Break glass in case of emergency (same for Bufkin & Matthews).
Ten man rotation with two per position is solid, though not title contenders. 47 win territory, with the six win bump largely due to Quin over Nate.

Maybe eventually, but based on what the coaching staff is asking him to do right now in practice......it's wing play;

MoG's interview after practice yesterday was interesting, they want him to:

  • Be on the Perimeter
  • Guard up to the 3 (vs 4/5) and handle the ball
  • Be a wing guy vs a big man
  • It's a new role for him since he was a 4/5 in college.

I don’t think Bey is a PF, I don’t think he can match big PF, he is undersized. Same for Griffin playing SF, he is a SG. They are fine playing SG and SF but moving them to SF and PF is a bad idea on an already undersized team.

I think they want Gueye to play on the perimeter to develop him as stretch 4, he is not SF.

Bey defends the 3 poorly. He's fine at the 4 and with big wings on D compared to 2 and 3 but he's not good on defense period

Well, you have Gueye.. he has a lot of opportunity and a very good skillset.   You also have AJ.

It's no problem with standing pat.

I think if he puts on  about 10 lbs.. Hunter can be PF.
