Joe F'n Johnson is our Superstar!

As I'm the authority on Joe, I'll sum it up rather quickly:One of the best, well-rounded role players in modern NBA history (think Ron Harper (one of my favs) or Mitch Richmond, guys who could never take a team where they were the best player very far). Neither had an Al or Josh beside them hence never getting to the second round as first options. Basically, a guy walking the finest line between prototypical 2nd or 3rd option on a championship team and poor 1st option on a middle-of-the-pack playoff team. He'll be on an NBA Hall of Fame ballot one year and be forgotten with his jersey being retired by one of the worst franchises with 6-8 All-Star Appearances. Chris Mullin status maybe? Very respectable career scoring and assist totals. Remembered by most in the know for being a very consistent defender. Slim chance at Pro Basketball Hall of Fame. There. Youre all welcome.

You can't compare Joe Johnson to Josh Smith when it comes to stats. They are at two different positions and both completely different players. When people pull out stats, they compare Josh and Joe FT% and FG%. Why? I'm not sure. Anyways, Josh has a better FG% than Joe this season. Josh couldn't even shoot a basketball his rookie year, but yet he's been racking up the points & rebounds this season.

Joe has played well this month, but not this whole season. I will keep my mouth shut until playoffs arrive. That's where stars are born and show up. Would love to see Joe & Josh play their game in this years playoffs. (And Al hopefully)

Josh shot 38% for the series (35/90) and 0% for three (0-9)Joe shot 48% for the series (45/92) including 50% from three while playing 18 more minutes for the seriesI'm actually glad you brought this up, because I had no idea how much better Joe played than Josh until I looked it up.*I forgot to add free throws in!Joe 16/18Josh 25/39Joe outscored Josh by 25 points by taking 2 more shots.

One year? Lol the self ownage in this thread is just priceless. Next you Joe Hater Club members will insist Joe's never made an All NBA team or he's never been an All Star. It must really burn you guys to watch Joe go out and play great and know you are cheering against your teams best player. So sad.

I wonder why Bob, Nique, and some of you are constantly telling the rest of us that JJ is a superstar? For me it like the old adage about porn.

"I know it when I see it"

...and I aint seeing it folks.

You guys are taken the wrong approach to this Josh/Joe thing. After Joe dropped 30+ on Chicago game 1 victory, they sent extra defenders at him the rest of the series. Shut down the iso plays and LD didn't run enough offense for Joe to catch and shoot and no one inside did anything including Josh and Al. Now that Josh is ballin, if he brings his 'A' game, no way they can focus on Joe on the perimeter so much and if Joe is hitting his shots, Smoove will have room to operate inside. If the Hawks do anything they need both Josh and Joe to ball out their minds at the same time and the rest of the team pick up offiensive scraps, with the exception of Teague who has to stay aggressive to be effective.

Thank you, couldn't have said it any better....I appreciate people who actually look at what is going on in the games instead of just looking at the stat sheet. People forget that most teams defenses are geared to stopping Joe so someone else has to step up.

Josh and Joe can be a pretty good tandem offensively as long as Josh plays inside and draws the double teams which would free up Joe. Josh is a great passer out of the post and when doubled he just needs to get it in his head that that is where he belongs.

It really is sad. You have less support for a guy because he is being paid max money. Really? Ask me this do you think ASG would spend that money if Joe wasn't here?

Fun fact: you can be a great player and possibly be in the Hall of Fame and not be a superstar. No one has said Joe is a superstar. By its very definition a superstar is the top five to top ten players in the entire league. No one has said Joe is in that category.

..and now they complain about the stats. I know that there is a lot more to basketball than stats. We all know that. However, those stats were posted specifically in response to the notion that joe was "shut down" and josh couldn't be stopped during that series. I think the stats did a good enough job of showing that that was nowhere near true.A big problem here is that we have no way of defining a superstar and we probably all have different definitions of what one is.Personally, I don't think we have a superstar on this team, but Joe is the closest we will get. Josh is too inconsistent and doesn't get enough respect around the league. Teams are going to dare Josh beat them. Nobody is going to just let Joe beat them.

Must I reiterate how clutch our "superstar" has been these past games. He had 18 first quarter points and ended with 37pts. Played a whopping 50+ minutes tonight. Wheres the Joe Hater Club now?! Lol go Hawks!!

Haters want to broadcast your failures and whisper your success.

I'll have to see the conversion ratio before I can say if he played well or not.

I love "fans" like this. here's some stats for you hater: 37 points on 14/28 shooting with four threes and eight rebounds in fifty five minutes on absolutely dead legs.

I was 100% joking because some guy tried to use conversion ratio in another thread(which is completely useless) to try to explain how bad Joe is.
