Game 1 Hawks vs. Celtics

The series won't be won or lost at the three-point line... or will it?In each of the previous six seasons, the team whose defense led the NBA in opponents' 3-point field goal percentage made it to their Conference Finals. The last ten seasons, each holder of this league-low stat at least made the playoffs AND won their first round matchup. Can the Hawks break that string?Last year, it was the Bulls, who dispatched the Hawks on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals (Atlanta briefly led this stat around the 2011 All-Star Break, before finishing fourth-lowest) In fact, in three of the past four seasons, the team that showed the Hawks the door led the NBA in lowest regular season opponent 3-point FG%.This year, the top spot goes to the Celtics, whose 30.8% is the lowest since 2004. That figure was actually lower than 30 percent before J.R. Smith and Steve Novak's Knicks (19-for-32) and the Hawks (9-for-17, although Rondo and The Three Amigos didn't play) lit them up at the 3-point arc in recent weeks. The last three foes who beat Boston shot a combined 35-for-67 (52.2%).*****************************************Lowest opponents' 3-Point FG%, by season: 2011-12 Celtics, 30.8% (#4 seed in East, ?)2010-11 Bulls, 32.7% (#1 seed in East, Eastern Conference finalist; Bulls eliminated Hawks in second round)2009-10 Lakers, 32.8% (#1 seed in West, NBA Champion; NBA Finalist Celtics were fourth-lowest in opponents' 3FG%; first-time playoff teams Bobcats and Thunder were 2nd- and 3rd-lowest in opponents' 3FG%, respectively)2008-09 Cavaliers, 33.3% (Top NBA record, Eastern Conference finalist; NBA Finalists Magic and Lakers were second- and third-lowest in opponents' 3FG%, respectively; Cavs eliminated Hawks in second round)2007-08 Celtics, 31.6% (Top NBA record, NBA Champion; Eastern Conference finalist Pistons were second-lowest in opponents' 3FG%; Celtics eliminated Hawks in first round)2006-07 Cavaliers, 32.9% (#2 seed in East, Eastern Conference champion; NBA champion Spurs were second-lowest in opponents' 3FG%)2005-06 Pistons, 32.5% (Top NBA record, #1 seed in East, Eastern Conference finalist; #1 West seed Spurs were third-lowest in opponents' 3FG%)2004-05 Mavericks, 33.0% (#4 seed in West; lost in second round)2003-04 Pistons, 30.2% (#3 seed in East, NBA Champion)2002-03 Kings, 32.0% (#2 seed in West; lost in second round)2001-02 Lakers, 31.7% (#3 seed in West, NBA Champion)~lw3

I really can't stand KG but I will give him props for giving our team respect and our star players some respect. As to the TNT crew well they can suck it! If memory serves they said we had no chance against the Magic or the Bulls last year and we beat down the Magic and scared the crap out of the Bulls.

OK - I was vehemenently opposed to LD starting JaCo but I have changed my mind. Starting JaCo;1. Allows Marvin and Ivan to stay in the roles they have excelled at all season long2. JaCo can foul KG real hard if nothing else, KG retaliates and they both get tossed - win for Atlanta3. When KG leaves JaCo to double as we know he will, JaCo has to go to the rim and his teammates have got to find him. The last 3 games JaCo has been rolling to rim and getting some east dunks.4. We all know JaCo will get very limited minutes wether he starts or not anyway so it doesn't matter.
