It really has been the coaching more than anything. Ferry may have built this team but Coach Bud is the reason any of this works.

Would this system be working if joe johnson was still here? Ferry stole Korver for free. Drafted dennis. Stole millsap and carroll for peanuts. He was building this team for Bud since the day he got here.

Okay sure he got us the pieces for this team, never said he didn't. But what is more integral to our success, Millsap at 9 mil or Coach Bud calling the plays. Not trying to say Bud is the only reason for our current success, but he is the primary one (and to answer your question, I think Joe would have fit on this team fine, his salary on the other hand not so much).

Not impressed? What else can you ask for to start this season? You don't need the so called "marquee" players anymore. You need a system, guys that know their roles, and solid coaching where guys buy in. Is Melo a marquee player? How's that working out?

This is a hypothesis that haven't been proven true yet.  All the championship teams have had marquee players.  No system team has ever won a championship.  There's still 3-4 minutes per game that requires somebody to stepup.  Usually, that's your marquee player.

It's easy to look at Marquee players in bad situations that just can't win.  However, that isn't the same as if that Marquee player were in a good situation.

Right now, we have a good situation but no real Marquee player.

must weave these players into a team.

Suppose you had a new truck in your yard, up on blocks, with no tires.  You've

saw old junkers like this. But, a new truck?  Come on.

 

Your neighbor asks, "How do you like your new truck?"  You explain that it's a

Gotta have those new tires for the truck to be useful.  Gotta have the players before

you can coach.

How can anybody say the best three point shooter in the league is not a "Marquee" player? Millsap is not a "Marquee" player?...The guy is an absolute stud! Teague sure has looked "Marquee" against the easts others point guards..Outplayed John Wall and Rondo easily this year. I bet any coach in the league would drop a "Marquee' on Al Horford for his work every night! It is time to stop being negative and realize that we gotta a bunch of damn ballers that can beat anybody! Thanks go to coach Bud but the Architect that made all this happen goes by the name of Danny Ferry.
