KB21
I'd still like to see more efficiency from Dennis. He gets to the basket with ease, so he should be better at finishing at the basket and/or drawing fouls when going to the basket.
StephenHawking
Yes for now he really blows too many lay ups. Its just weird. Its so easy for him to get to the basket and have good looks but more often than not he's putting a little too much force on them and they just roll of the rim. If he'd be hitting his easy shots he should be around 60% for now.
Popular Post rd79
IMHO Dennis has improved some things what could make his game much more valuable. Before this season he forced passes (turnovers), he forced the drive to the hoop (more turnovers under the basket and lots of blocked shots) and it seemed he wasn't to be able to adjust the tempo of his game and went 100% all the time. This year it seems he knows about his strength and more important about his flaws. He shot a lot this season so far but there haven't been many ill advised attempts and he stopped driving into well defended lanes all the time. Example: When we played Charlotte he looked for his midrange shot but as soon as Dwight went to the bench he successfully attacked the basket. Let's hope he keeps playing focused and doesn't fall back into old habits. If he can do this consistantly this season and works on his off ball defense after that he could be an All Star in 2019... If...
Popular Post Thomas
Being the opposite of Delaney and Moose, Dennis is better than his numbers in a boxscore imply. He controlled the game well and really his assists stats are misleading because we just don't shoot well overall and he would be rewarded with more if we shoot at least average each game . Anyway, three starters out of five played pretty well last night so overall a better played game, just not enough.

His improvement, and learning, year over year continues. I believe that will be the case every year until he peaks in 4 years. If so, he’ll be a top 10 PG in the league at that time.
Popular Post StephenHawking
Dennis looks like a real leader now. A veteran on the court. His decisionmaking, a real weak part last season, seems to be a strength of his so far this season. He's dishing the ball well, shows great leadership on the court and controls the pace. Really the only flaws are his off ball defense and his shooting. And I'm very confident that he'll shoot a better percentage soon. He just needs a little more luck. Next two things he has to work on: 1. Off ball defense. Training his focus. You always have to have two things in mind. Where the ball is and where the opponent is. Right now he can only focus on one or another. 2. How to get fouled more often. That means to train pumpfakes. How to efficiently drive into defenders to get fouled without turning the ball over. How to flop.
rd79
But even if his game looks improved at the moment, let's not forget he only played four games this season so far. That's a far too small sample size to start celebrating his improvements

We need Dennis to be doing things that help you win games consistently and not just putting up empty scoring stats like an Andrew Wiggins.

The only thing he's not doing now, that he did then, was shoot a decent percentage of his 3s. It would help if he had someone else that could create for him by finding him off the ball, like Millsap and Horford did at times.

Thomas
Well, two games became definite losses when our three point shooters were shooting blanks off of solid passes from Dennis so I would say his stats aren't so empty, its our team shooting that is empty not just his shooting. He has distributed well but everyone has to improve for it to actually matter.
Lurker
I'm sorry but Schröder's off ball issue is a significant problem. It's in everyone's scouting report and it's not really effort, it's he doesn't even bother trying. Same thing last year. His efficiency is fine but if he doesn't turn around the off ball issue the Hawks are as good as screwed for the next 5 years even if you think reasonable because it is indeed point guards that take a long time to grow and develop by teams. Marvin24Williams
he has a looooooooong way to go in terms of making his offball defense serviceable. He is absolutely awful in that aspect right now
kurupt
He won't fix that this season for sure. Too many other areas is has to (and is) focussing on. Cutting down TOs (fine so far), picking his spots to score/facilitate better and being the sole focus of a team. It sucks to watch it, but I don't think it will get much better this year. TheNorthCydeRises
Another solid outing for Dennis today. Pay attention to the passing. For those of you who say that he's strictly a scoring PG, even you'll have to admit that his court vision was on point today.
rd79
Not to mention all the bricked wide open threes he created... Budball died when Korver was injured. No reliable 3 point shooting after that... Edited October 30, 2017 by rd79
