Siakam or JC

Who would you prefer Siakam or JC. Would you trade JC for Siakam straight up. Who pushes us to the top? Who fits best with Trae and the rest of our roster. Does JJ have a similar skill set as Siakam?

I'll always take Siakam, 10 out of 10 times. 6'10, 7'6 wingspan, versatile defender, nice passer, elite open court player for position, and solid offensive skill-set. Neither are #1 options and I would lean to JC being a better #2 but the PnR and PnP gets cut off in the playoffs so even then as a #2, Siakam has the edge. Siakam for me. Now that both are overpaid, I definitely choose Siakam. JC has things I love too. Elite movement off the ball, versatility when it comes to scoring, PnR and PnP master, adaptable player, great in the locker room, great for team morale, and an elite worker. But it's not an easy decision but Siakam just has the edge as he's already proven his value as a #2/#3 option on a championship team.

Easy decision: Siakam, by a country mile. 

But there is no way Toronto would take just JC for Siakam.

It's closer than y'all are laying out and I think this year will further expose Siakam as not truly being a #2.

I agree with everything Supes said, but... I value JC's intangibles and chemistry as a fit over Siakam.  Moreover, if we have to give up more significant substance in a deal to get him, it's a hard no.  In a vacuum, sure I'd take Pascal.  In reality, I wouldn't pull the trigger.  Not right now.  If you go up a tier for a player, then yeah...  Or if we have issues maintaining our place in the pecking order (or getting over the top).

Add in his also approximate $10 million more per year as well at  $33, $35 and $37 million, that's a No.

This is the biggest piece... if Siakam was on JCs contract I would probably take him but there are some downsides.  I think the main thing I like about Siakam are his handles and he's a better defender.  It would be nice to have a guy with some size to go to late in the shot clock instead of watching Trae put up 30 footers.  JC can only really take advantage of mismatches.

This part and it's what we're going to be going back and forth about once making the playoffs becomes the norm.  If a consistent #2 doesn't emerge, then it's only a matter of time before this hypothetical we're having becomes an actual thing.  I'll even go so far as to say it applies to everyone.  It will basically be any combination of guys not named Trae and the Squawk party lines will be drawn.

...but let me not be that guy. lol I want this team to do it and, amazingly, trades are the furthest thing from my mind.

I've said many times - the Hawks need a CONSISTENT #2 behind Trae.  A guy teams have to game plan for. Hopefully one of these wings rise above the fray.

Collins>Siakam for me.

More versatility from JC, more body control, better outside shooter better receiver of the oop. 
 

Defensively, Pascal though, although JC was working on D like a maniac in the playoffs he raised his level.

 

JC is an 85, Pascal an 84 in my book.

Let me put it this way...we need another Consistant at least 20 point scorer on the team. The Yang to Trae's Ying. The ole 1-2 scoring punch.

Siakam and JC are the exact same height with and without shoes

6'8.25 barefoot, 6'9.5 in shoes

That being said, I think as an individual talent Siakam is better because of the shot creation.

But JC is the better fit on the roster with Trae. Siakam is a better scorer, JC is a better shooter especially in spot ups.

For what we run and what compliments Trae JC is it. If John was 2 inches taller and could anchor the post defensively this would be a no brainer.

I never saw Hunter as a #2. He was clearly our 2nd best player but 2nd option. Idk about that

In every month in Hunter's career so far, he has averaged less than 14 ppg except for January of last season (where he averaged 18.7 ppg).  He needs to show some number around 20 ppg on a much more consistent basis before he can stake a claim to being our second option.  I'd love to see it happen and that pre-injury month (14 games) was a very encouraging sign.  His 11 ppg in the playoffs (playing roughly 30 mpg) was clearly in more of a supporting role which is not shocking given the amount of time he had missed.

This year will be important for him and defining his role at least in the short term.  With Bogi and Hunter, last season was a little interesting with each of them stepping up when the other was hampered by or entirely out with injury.

JC over Siakim hands down for me.

Honestly I don't see what all the hype is about over Siakim besides media's push.

JC has also bested Bam in almost every head to head occasion but of course "Bam" has the star power.

I think people are going to stop underestimating JC starting this yr.

I honestly think we take JC’s versatility for granted. How many other PF’s in the league can do all the things he can plus hit those perimeter shots. Maybe 1, Tatum.

I don’t think there’s a PF out there that fits Trae better than Collins for the type of team we are putting together where we are like a Swiss Army knife.
